These are the ultimate style and beauty essentials for a Safari Getaway. Read about my magical stay at Thanda Safari HERE

You don’t need a tonne of makeup when on safari.

All that’s required is a coverage to even out skintone & hide any discolouration, a powder or cream to add a sun-kissed healthy glow, mascara, eyeliner and a lip formula you like – be it a gloss, lipstick or stain.

I took along these 5 makeup items from Clarins

Skin Illusion Natural Hydrating Foundation R695 BUY has an SPF 15 and gives skin a barely-there effect, imparting a natural radiance.

Ever Bronze Compact Powder (Shade 02) R695 BUY gives my skin a gorgeous golden glow. It blends beautifully and is enriched with safflower to help intensify a natural tan.

Waterproof Pencil in Forest R410 BUY is a dark green shade that I use on my upper lash line for some definition. The formula is easy to blend using the sponge tip attached to the pencil, should you want to blend and soften the line.

Supra Volume Mascara (01 Intense Black) R495 BUY intensifies and enhances my lashes, making them appear thicker & bolder.

Lip Perfector (Shade 06) R410 BUY is a gel that plumps lips while imparting shine and a sheer veil of colour. The formula nourishes, hydrates and has a lovely melting texture. You can even use this on cheeks for a natural looking flush.

A Dress to Impress

When I first posted about this Arniston Dress, R1550 BUY by Kinda on Instagram, I could hardly believe the response. Just like me, EVERYBODY adores it.

It has such a feminine silhouette and I love the maxi length, ¾ sleeves & slightly elasticated waist.

Scented Safari

Created in 1991, the now iconic Nuxe Huile Prodigieuse R715 for a 100ml BUY is a multi-use dry oil for face, hair & body. It nourishes skin & adds shine to the hair.

Combined with the Prodigieux le Parfum R1095 for a 50ml BUY, these two make the ultimate Safari scent layering combo.

Prodigieux le Parfum is based on the scent of the Nuxe Huile Prodigieuse.

Prodigieux le Parfum is sexy and sumptuous – a blend of sunshine and warm sand with notes of orange flowers, magnolia & vanilla.

Safari Style

I took along two lightweight jackets from Kinda Clothing. I needed both jackets to be lightweight – even in Autumn KZN is warm and humid, and waterproof because light rain was forecast on two of the days.

The Natalie Jacket in Light Tan, R1,250 BUY is made using a high-quality waterproof nylon fabric. I like its cropped style, clean lines and simple zip up.

The Paddy Coat in khaki – not yet available for sale – with its hood came in so handy. It was perfect for game drives when there was a light drizzle. It has two generous pockets, a zip and an inside toggle that adds great shape to the style.

Safe Fun in the Sun

I took along two sunscreens from Bioderma – one for face and one for body (although the one for body can also be used on the face, but hey, I’m a beauty editor – I needed two options LOL)

Photoderm SPF50+ Milk R725 BUY offers high protection and can be used on face & body. This formula is a brilliant option for sensitive skin and is so gentle, it can be used on babies from 12 months old. The cream is non-sticky or greasy & can also be applied it to wet skin. A stunning all-rounder for sun exposed skin.

Photoderm Cream SPF50+ R355 BUY is a lightweight, hydrating and fragrance-free facial sunscreen for dry & sensitive skin. It protects against damaging UV rays and has a non-sticky or greasy finish. It doesn’t irritate the eyes (mine are SUPER sensitive) and works well as a makeup base too.

All Bioderma Photoderm sunscreens are formulated using filters that are clean, safe & 100% non-ecotoxic, so they don’t damage ecosystems.

Wearing the Pants

The Claire pants in grey by Kinda, R950 BUY are made with 100% cotton and combine comfort and style. They feature an elasticated waist and ankle cuff and cool zip details. There’s are side pockets and a smaller back pocket.

I’m wearing the GORGEOUS Kinda Tilly Tank in Black, R499 BUY underneath. I love its silky knit and luxurious drape – a real investment piece.
