I do love complexion enhancing, glow getting products that promise to correct, illuminate and beautify the skin. In my life as a beauty journo, I’ve tried so many of these glow getting beauties, I though a little post chatting about some of my faves was in order. These beauties really help you nail that “lit-from-within” look, rather effortlessly and without too much fuss.

It was the simple, yet elegant glass packaging of the L.O.V Perfectitude 3 in 1 Prime & Fix R250 that first caught my eye.

This Priming & fixing Spray is a real multitasker and can be used in three various ways:

1. Use as a primer to soften and prep the skin prior to makeup application.

2. Spritz onto the face after makeup application to fix your look in place.

3. Use throughout the day to energize, refresh and moisturise the complexion.

I use a facial spritzer daily after applying my makeup because of the dewy look it impart onto my skin, while making sure my makeup stays put. If you haven’t yet added one into your routine, consider doing so – especially for the summer months when makeup tends to ‘slip’. L.O.V Cosmetics is available at selected Dis-Chem stores and on Takelot.com

While The Body Shop Bright Glow Instaglow CC Cream (R195) is not a new launch, it remains a favourite of mine for a few reasons. Because I’m “cough” older, I need products that colour correct my complexion while neutralizing sallowness. I also like how this illuminates the skin, leaving an almost iridescent glow, while minimizing the appearance of pores (they get larger as you get older, I’m afraid). Again, this product can be used in two various ways:

1. As a pre-foundation primer, or mixed with your foundation (I do this often)

2. On it’s own (after moisturiser), to give the skin a healthy looking glow.

I use the Bright Glow version, which I think is great for lighter skin tones. However, the Peachy Glow version is fantastic on darker tones, and works brilliantly to counteract ashiness and give the skin a radiant glow.

I also love that this beauty contains an SPF 20 and reduces shine.

Continuing with colour correctors – handy ones at that – the Max Factor CC Colour Corrector R229.95 comes packaged as a crayon, making it easy to pop into your bag and use on the go. This baby evens out dark spots & pigmentation in a flash. The balmy formula blends beautifully, and you apply it onto any dark marks (best if skin is moisturised beforehand), gently patting and blending at the edges. You then apply your coverage and makeup.

Perfect coverage relies on 2 key factors:

1. Finding the perfect colour foundation / coverage for your complexion.

2. Blending that coverage perfectly so it conceals any discolouration and looks like perfect, natural skin.

If you’re even vaguely into beauty and makeup, you’ve probably tried the iconic Beautyblender R405 that works to create a smooth and seamless foundation, BB or CC cream application. It’s so innovative because of it’s egg shape that allows for perfect application. This post would be way long if I went into the whole rigmarole, but you can watch this excellent tutorial below on how to use it correctly and see why it’s such a cult beauty classic.

Beautyblender is available to purchase online at Placecol.com or at Placecol stores nationwide.
