Last week I attended the Poetry SS/17 media preview and have to admit, this has to be my favourite collection yet. Taking their cue from spring’s fresh bounty of blooms, architectural lines of tropical plants and vibrant colours, Poetry has put together a spring/summer collection that pays tribute to the season of new growth.

LOVE this blue maxi dress with it’s subtle stripe & off-the-shoulder detail

We envisioned a greenhouse filled with greenery and flowers in full bloom – a sense of calm in the midst of our chaotic lives,” says Mari Lochner, Poetry Buyer. “As days get hotter and we enter high summer, we increasingly want clothes that are comfortable, feminine and above all effortless.”

This season’s cuts and styles are given a stylish and fashionable twist with vibrant prints and bold stripes. For added interest and greater visual impact, these bold colours are contrasted with muted tones. In addition, the collections use pure cotton and linen, as well as non- synthetic fabrics like Tencel, Modal and Cupro.

The collection is held together by its focus on the lifestyle, values and interests of Poetry’s customer, who searches out fashion that allows her to always look her best without any fuss, artifice or inconvenience.

in-conversation

In deep conversation with Carin from Ideas Magazine about the merits of off-the-shoulder blouses.

“Think of Poetry’s clothes as the indispensable supporting act that allows you to do what you really enjoy, whether it’s travelling, savouring a new book by a favourite author, spending time with your dearest friends, or simply winning at life,” says Mari.

The season’s shoes and sandals are geared for summer and you’ll find a great selection of wedges, sandals, block heels, lace-ups and this summer’s hottest shoe style: the espadrille.

Poetry has also introduced its first range of silky soft, hand illustrated scarves. A beautiful, bright scarf remains a timeless accessory and can be worn as a neckerchief, belt or head wrap. Loosely tied to a handbag, it’s just the accessory to add colour and panache to any outfit.

I love scarves and want ALL of these!

On the home ware front, there are some really beautiful ceramics. I’m particularly taken with the gorgeous black ceramics below, that are also oven, microwave and dishwasher safe.

My favourite part of the morning was spent being creative and putting together my very own flower arrangement. We could choose from a selection of indigenous and tropical flowers and greenery that we arranged in the cutest little cement washed pots.

I’ll be honest, flower arranging is not my strong suite, but I reckon my arrangement is a bit of alright.
