I’m so excited to introduce you all to a new French fragrance brand called Collection Grands Crus by Berdoues that’s now available in South Africa, exclusively through Foschini. The fragrances are currently in stores and should be available on line later this week.
Eleven fragrances are available in the Collection Grands Crus line, each with a rare blend of materials that create sublime alchemies. Each Grands Crus fragrance is inspired by a region in the world and offers a unique interpretation of that place’s olfactory identity. These scents combine freshness, elegance and refinement. I decided to try Azur Riviera, described as having addictive aquatic notes of algae, coupled with jasmine and orange blossom. This scent was created by perfumer Jean Marie Santantoni.
Imagine an idyllic view of the Cote d’Azur with aromas of brown algae, cool and pure jasmine and mildly salty and sparkling orange blossom wafting through the air. The floral bouquet is emboldened by a fresh sea breeze that gives a specific atmosphere to the Riviera and makes this scent rather addictive.
The theme of the Riviera is perfectly reflected in the illustration of blue waves on the bottle.

When you first spritz this quintessential summer scent, it has a very fresh opening. After a minute or two, the scent settles, and the floral jasmine & orange blossom notes become more prominent. Azur Riviera dries down to a very subtle scent that lingers beautifully on the skin, and one can whiff those fresh oceanic notes throughout the day. It’s a lovely, uncomplicated scent that will resonate with many and the bottle is just exquisite.
