I just love Havaianas! I currently have 6 pairs in my cupboard and wear them all. I’m especially fond of the collaboration they do with designers and artists, and count my Missoni Havaianas among my favourite flats.
I was so excited to receive a pair of the ‘Naïf’ Havaianas (pictured above) as a Christmas pressie from the brand. Naïf art is conceived and produced by artists without any academic or formal training and is characterised by childlike simplicity and lack of perspective. The artworks are simple, vibrant and colourful.
My pair is adorned with Naïf art by the Brazilian artist Helena Coelho – a self taught artist who was born on a carnival day. This may explain her bold use of colour. Coelho is known for painting pictures that convey her rich inner world. She focuses on everyday themes with singular poetry as in the artwork “Sabado Na Praia Vermelha” that’s used to illustrate my Havaianas.

Unfortunately the Naïf Havaianas collection is very limited edition and not available locally BUT, there are AMAZING styles currently in store. Find your closest Havaianas store or stockist here and take a look at their stunning offering.
