There seems to be so many gorgeous, limited edition make-up collections at the moment. One of my absolute favourites is the Colours of Brazil line by Clarins.
This beautiful collection is inspired Rio’s mythical beaches, sizzling hot sun and party attitude. I love how Clarins have interpreted this into a really wearable, highly covetable summer collection.
My two favourite products from the collection are the Eye Quartet & Liner Palette and the Bronzing Powder Compact.
The Eye Quartet & Liner Palette (R465) contains shades of peach, bronze and taupe that give the eyes a radiant look. There’s also an electric royal blue shadow that can either be used dry as an eye shadow, or wet, to transform it into a creamy textured eyeliner. I love to accentuate my eyes with a bold, graphic, bright blue line, come summer. I think it looks so fresh.
The Bronzing Compact (R550) not only give the complexion a sun-kissed glow, it also cares for the skin with crowberry and white tea extract which protect against the harmful effects of free radicals and pollution.
TIP: When applying bronzer, ensure you lightly dust the powder over the areas of the face that the sun would naturally tan – like the cheekbones, bridge of the nose, chin and the brow bones. This will yield the most realistic, sun-kissed glow.
Come summer, it’s a good idea to switch your regular mascara to one that’s waterproof. The Truly Waterproof Mascara (R265) not only makes lashes look longer and thicker, it also cares for them. The formula contains bitter orange tree wax and squalane from olives to ensure that lashes are coated with a protective film that shields them from slat water, chlorine and UV damage. Best of all, this mascara lasts for up to twelve hours allowing you to swim, dance and have fun without ending up with panda eyes. It’s available in black and blue.
For the body, there’s the Illuminating Skin Care Oil for Face & Body (R490) that contains find, golden pearls, which beautifully illuminates the skin, while enhancing a tan. It does not leave an oily film and really works to nourish sun-parched skin with hazelnut oil and Vitamin E. It contains mandarin, ylang ylang, Tonka Bean and grapefruit essential oils that give the oil a lovely, subtle, almost creamy vanilla type scent.
TIP: Apply touches of this oil on the arms, décolletage, legs and face to give the skin a sexy sheen and to enhance your tan and make it last longer.
For lips, there’s the Lip Balm Crayon (R250) that coats lips with pretty, transparent colour. The creamy texture glides beautifully over the lips to give them a natural, ultra-shiny effect. The formula contains mango, apricot and shea butter that moisturize lips ensuring they’re smooth and supple. The one pictured below is called ‘Delicious Plum’ and is my favourite of the lot.
