I wish I could say I used my Burberry trench to style the shot above, but alas…I’m still saving. I do love this shot though and had a lot of fun photographing and styling it up.
I’m all about classic pieces of clothing: the little black dress, elegant black heels and the classic trench coat. I reckon that if you invest in beautiful, quality basics, you’ll always have something to wear while looking polished and elegant.
So, it should come as no surprise then, that I was overly excited to attend the launch of Burberry’s newest fragrance, My Burberry – a scent inspired by the brands iconic trench coat. In fact, Christopher Bailey, chief creative and executive officer at Burberry went as far as to call it, “a trench coat in a bottle”.
The bottle has a button-like horn cap and hand-tied gabardine bow, made from the same fabric as the trench.
Another of the inspirations for the fragrance is a London garden after the rain. One can actually smell the cool, dewey wetness in the top notes.
The campaign is fronted by two iconic Brits – Kate Moss and Cara Delevingne. Both look like they had a blast shooting this campaign.
My Burberry is set to become the brands signature scent and has top notes of sweet pea and bergamot that are beautifully tempered by freesia, geranium and a golden quince heart. The base notes consist of patchouli and damask and centifolia roses.
I’d describe My Burberry as a vibrant floral scent with delicate top notes that aren’t cloying or overwhelming. It lasts a good few hours on the skin and leaves a gorgeous, almost powdery trail. It has a fresh, timeless elegance and sophistication – just like the iconic trench. It’s fast becoming one of my absolute favourite fragrances.
My Burberry is available in stores now and retails for:
- R1400 for a 90ml EDP
- R980 for a 50ml EDP
- R700 for a 30ml EDP
