I know times are tough and realize that after all our monthly expenses have been covered, there’s very little money left over for a beauty splurge. Because of this, I’ve decided to start a weekly budget beauty post where I showcase a product that retails for R150 or less. The beauties I’ll be featuring are my top budget picks – those I love and am pretty sure you will too.
To kick off this new series, I’m showcasing a collection of delicious lip balms (you may have seen them as they launched towards the end of last year), that have become favourites of mine over the past few months.
Revlon Kiss Balms (R65 for one) come in 6 flavours: Sweet Cherry, Fresh Strawberry, Juicy Peach, Crisp Apple, Berry Burst, and my favourite, Tropical Coconut. These lightweight, hydrating balms coat the lips with the most subtle hint of colour while protecting them with an SPF 20.
I know there are only 5 balms in the picture. The Strawberry version rolled off onto the floor & my darling puppy spotted it before I did. I found it an hour later in the garden, under my rose bush (in case you were wondering) #LOL
While it’s important to care for your lips year round, it’s particularly important during the cold winter months when it is easy for our lips to dry out and become chapped. This can lead to bleeding and peeling (never a good look) and even infection. Remember that the lips have a thin outer layer of skin and fewer oil producing glands, so it’s imperative to keep them moist.
My favourite of the lot is the Tropical Coconut because it’s not tinted. I also LOVE the tropical scent, which kinda makes me want to run off to a tropical island where I can sit on the beach all day sipping Pina Coladas (hey, at least my lips will be protected with an SPF 20).
These balms last around an hour on the lips before a touch-up is required. I like that the colours are super sheer, but add the slightest bit of colour to the lips. The fragrances are quite heady, so if you find strong scents offensive, you may not love these #JustSaying
Have you tried any of the Revlon Kiss Balms? If you have, I’d love to hear which flavour is your favourite and if you found the formula effective.
