For far too long nude underwear (& lipstick, & shoes, & make-up) wasn’t representative of the multitude of skin tones that populate the planet. When I started working as a fashion editor at True Love Magazine back in 2000, I’d call our cover ladies (who were mostly black) to book shoot dates, times and get their sizes so I could pull the appropriate clothing. Then, I’d always finish off with, “and please bring a nude coloured bra and panties”. Again and again I got the same response, “You mean a black bra and panties? I can’t find so-called nude underwear that matches my skin tone anywhere.” #OneNudeDoesNotFitAll

Fast forward 17 years and finally the term ‘nude’ has become representative – especially when it comes to underwear. Personally, I veer towards nude colour choices when selecting bra’s and panties, because a tone closest to that of your skin will never show through clothing.

So I was super excited to learn that Cotton On Body has just launched a lovely new nude range of underwear called the New Nudes that have colours suited to every nude skin tone. Also, I just want to mention that I think Cotton On underwear is unbelievably well priced – given the super cool styles and great quality. Honestly, I haven’t bought underwear anywhere else for close on a year, because nothing available locally comes CLOSE to offering the same value and cool designs that Cotton On Body does! #ThisIsNotASponsoredPost #JustBeingHonest

I adore the Bralette’s above (R249) from the New Nudes range. A Bralette is my favourite style of bra (because #Comfort).

I really like the “Candice Brasiliano” lace panties (above), R119 (how could I not, I mean they’re my namesake!). For days I need to ensure I have no VPL (visible panty line) I’d opt for the seamless “Partypants”, R119. Also available in the range is a fitted T-shirt bra, R199 (my 13 year old will love this).

The New Nudes range is available in 3 nude varieties: Frappe, Cappuccino & Espresso.

All the New Nudes styles are available in store now at Cotton On Body

A Word On Caring for Your Delicates

Lingerie is the closest thing to your skin and requires extra care to keep it in perfect shape. You’ll get the best results by hand washing your bras in lukewarm water with a gentle care products (I like Woolite). Squeeze – never wring – the water out and always line dry. NEVER use bleach and never expose lingerie to dryer heat: both cause shrinkage and damage the elasticity, which will affect the fit.
