As I nudge closer to 43 years of age, I’m a little despondent with the changes I see in my skin. I guess what they say it true: growing older is not for sissies. Aside from the usual lack of radiance, lines and wrinkles and pigmentation, I now also have to contend with some serious vertical lip lines. And really, given that I’ve been a smoker for close on 15 years, I only have myself to blame #LeSigh
While Fillers work remarkably well to plump up vertical lip lines, I know many women would rather opt for a less invasive option.
Recently, I tried out the QMS MediCosmetics Lip Line Corrector (R2160) – one of the few products on the market specifically designed to plump up fine lines around the mouth.
Now, the upper lip is prone to fine lines, which arise through repeated facial expression and the natural ageing process of the skin. As we get older, the skin becomes drier, loses elasticity and becomes thinner. Upper lip crease are short and vertical, making the particularly aging. And, if you don’t care for them, they only become more prominent.
Contained within the Lip Line Corrector formula is hyaluronic acid that works in the upper epidermal levels, balancing moisture deficits and softening dry, superficial wrinkles. It also assist in replenishing the skin’s own hyaluronic acid, resulting in a more youthful and firm pout, almost immediately
Also included in the formula is Wakame seaweed extract, that’s been shown to restructure the skin within 14 days, while reducing fine lines and wrinkles. Soy and yam phytosterols work to strengthen the epidermis and improve the skin’s elasticity. Scientific studies have shown a reduction of 35.53% in the wrinkle depth after 12 weeks.
I’ve been using mine for about two weeks now – every morning and evening on clean skin – before I apply my serum or moisturiser. The formula is very lightweight, not greasy at all, and absorbs in an instant. I must admit, I’m starting to see a very slight improvement in my lip lines, especially immediately after applying this serum.
The big question then… is it worth R2160?
While I would probably spend the money on (instant gratification) fillers, if vertical lip lines are of great concern, and fillers are not an option, then this treatment is certainly for you.
