There’s still two more weeks left to get your body bikini ready. If cellulite is an issue – and lets be honest, it is for most women – then now is the time to take a plan of action. It’s worth remembering that any diligent programme of massage (or body brushing), combined with a good body cream or oil will deliver comparable benefits. It’s also worthwhile to cut out fatty, sugary foods, which are stored as fat, mainly on your lower body, while drinking lots of water to flush out your system. Exercise will obviously help too, even if it’s just a moderate half hour walk daily.

Cellulite is different from ordinary fat, and needs a special approach when trying to eliminate it. The puckering and bulging is caused by the way thousands upon thousands of fat cells are packaged. If the cells membranes are weak or damaged (as is the case with cellulite), the fatty tissue doesn’t lie flat, forming lumps.

Today, I’m giving away a Cellulite Fix Kit valued at R1065 from renowned spa brand, Spalicious. The kit contains the three products below that will improve the look of cellulite, helping to firm and tone the skin.

spalicious-scrub

Orange Butter Cellulite Scrub works to remove dead skin cells and prep the skin for the absorption of products you use thereafter. Included in the ingredients is grapefruit seed extract, which acts as a diuretic and cleansing agent, while also having antioxidant properties. Also included is orange butter, derived from orange peel oil and wax. Together, these ingredients have a cleansing and toning effect on the skin. Orange peel wax is also high in polyphenols that have anti-inflammatory properties, making them excellent for helping eliminate cellulite.

Use this scrub daily, before your bath or shower on dry skin. Apply a small amount to areas affected by cellulite, and massage in light circular movements, then rinse off.

spalicious-body-contour-cream

Ivy & Orange Body Contour Cream contains a cocktail of active ingredients that target fatty deposits with lipolytic, firming and restructuring properties. One of the key ingredients is caffeine that works to pull fluids out of the spaces between cells, thereby inducing lipolysis. Lipolysis is basically the burning of fat in the layer just below the skins surface that causes fat cells to release their particles, thus shrinking in size. Coleus Forskohlii Root is cultivated in Thailand and India, and studies have shown it to be excellent at breaking down adipose (fat) tissue, while also preventing its reoccurrence. There’s also green algae to increase firmness, ivy extract to relieve congestion in the cells while removing toxins, and horsetail extract to boost collagen and elastin synthesis. The texture of this cream is very lightweight and absorbs immediately. It’s not a nourishing formula (it’s not meant to be), rather, it’s a treatment – remember that when using it. Apply this cream in the morning to areas of concern where cellulite is concentrated, massaging it in lightly until it’s completely absorbed.

Processed with Snapseed.

The Sweet Fennel Cellulite Draining Oil detoxifies the body, whilst leaving the skin visibly smoother, firmer and softer. Because it’s so active, it should not be used during pregnancy.

Among its ingredients is Centella Asiatica, which improves elasticity and firmness, while activating microcirculation. Cypress oil regulates blood flow, so has toning effect on the veins, while also decongesting, detoxifying and reducing the appearance of cellulite. Sweet Fennel Oil is a stimulant, encouraging the elimination of toxins, while black pepper is anti-inflammatory.

You apply this oil in the evenings only, starting at the ankles, using an upward, sweeping movement until you reach the buttocks, when you work the product in with a light massage movements.
