Today I’ve got a prelude to the new La vie est belle film – a little teaser if you will to wet your appetite for the new, exquisitely beautiful communication that launches worldwide tomorrow. Of course, I’ll be among the first showing you this beautiful new short film so keep an eye out – tomorrow evening at 9pm sharp it will be live on my blog.
Here’s the teaser video:
Lancôme Paris worked closely with Julia Roberts on a new chapter for the la vie est belle story. The task of capturing and telling the tale of this now iconic and inspiring fragrance, was left to one of cinema’s biggest and most daring names, director James Gray. For more than 20 years, Gray has lent his unique vision to American cinema with classics such as Little Odessa and The Immigrant. Gray has a unique way of depicting the emotions and weaknesses of characters with a raw sensitivity. Because of this, he has created an array of iconic female characters. Grays films can best be interpreted as a declaration of love to these cross-generational actresses of American cinema.
To recap on the two fragrances in the line:
The original La vie est belle (R1099 for a 50ml) is centered around the idea of a natural and simple beauty, freedom of conventions and the choice one’s own vision of happiness. The fragrance is about finding the joy in life and pleasure in the small things. Iris, being the key note, is surrounded by a heart of jasmine and orange blossom. The initial burst is fruity with the black currant and pear notes springing forth. The base is warm and sexy with gourmand notes of praline and vanilla, patchouli and tonka bean.
Lancôme La vie est belle L’Eau De Parfum Intense (R1395 for a 50 ml) is an intense floral fruity gourmand fragrance. It contains top notes of bergamot, orange, pear, pink pepper and blackcurrant buds. The heart is intense and made up of heady notes such as iris, tuberose, ylang-ylang, Sambac jasmine and orange blossom. The hazelnut and cream base leaves a delicious trail.
TIP: I’ve found the best way to wear a fragrance is to spritz a bit of the juice into the air and walk into it. By doing this, the juice delicately scents your clothing so you leave a fragranced trail wherever you go. I also spritz a little juice onto the inside of my wrists and behind my ears.
