If you’re really into makeup, you probably a huge fan of Smashbox. What I love most about the brand is how they create these unique, hybrid products that are part skincare, part make-up – perfect for a gal on the go like me!
I super excited to share some new, super innovative and utterly delightful launches from the brand.
Photo finish Primer Oil
Smashbox Photo finish Primer Oil (R450) – This lightweight, fast absorbing and utterly luxurious primer oils has fast become a favourite of mine. It’s basically a hybrid of facial oil and primer. It contains a blend of 15 essential oils like jojoba, Arabica and Argan (to name a few) that deeply moisturise the skin, while reducing the appearance of dry, fine lines. You simply massage two drops onto a clean face, allow it to absorb (its really quick) and apply your make-up. It leaves my skin with a dewy, youthful look and is really great at increasing the longevity of makeup (I find it’s been especially good with BB creams). You can also use it over makeup for a quick pick-me-up – simply apply it above the cheekbones for a gorgeous glow. It can be used to thin out concealer or foundation. I also use mine on split-ends, cuticles and dry elbows. It’s a real, multitasking winner of a product and I highly recommend it.
Indecent Exposure Mascara, X-Rated Mascara & Brow Tech Shaping Powder
Smashbox Indecent Exposure Mascara (R280) – This lengthening mascara features a spiral of wavy cut bristles that separate and lengthen lashes, while a micro-spiral tip makes capturing and coating tiny, inner lashes a breeze. Curved, wavelength fibers cling to the lashes, stretching as you apply the formula.
Smashbox X-Rated Mascara (R280) – This is a volumising mascara with a buildable formula. It contains tripod fibers that twist and wrap around each lash, doubling volume without clumping, smudging or flaking. The brush has three rows of bristles that isolate and coat each individual lash for clump-free definition. It’s pretty easy to remove as well.
Smashbox Brow Tech Shaping Powder (R290) – This is another launch I’m super, super excited about as I’m very much of a brow gal. It is a first of its kind volumising powder that allows you to build your brows. The ultrafine, loose powder mimics the appearance of natural hair, so you avoid that dated, stenciled brow look (my absolute WORST!). It’s also long lasting (8+ hours) and I like that it has a precision tip applicator that evenly distributes the powder across spares brows.
To use it, give the product a good shake, and then tap the wand to remove any excess powder. Apply to the center of the brow – defining your arch first – then filling in, working in the direction of brow growth with short strokes.
Brow Tech Shaping Powder is available in 4 shades: Blonde, Taupe, Brunette (I use this one) and Dark Brown.
Insta-Matte Lipstick Transformer & Be Legendary Cream & Matte Lipsticks
Smashbox Insta-Matte Lipstick Transformer (R290)- launches March 2016- OMG! This product literally blew me away. It’s like an ultimate, take-anywhere, beauty hack tube that doubles your lipstick collection. So what is it? A lightweight, POWDER-FREE gel formula, that you sweep over any creamy lipstick (with your finger) to instantly mattify it, effectively allowing you to wear your favourite lipstick in two ways. I love that it is comfortable enough to wear all day and doesn’t flake. And if that wasn’t enough, it also prevents lipstick from bleeding into fine lines. You can’t use it over balms, lacquers or gloss, but then you wouldn’t want to – as these formulas you use when you want glossy lips.
Smashbox Be Legendary Cream lipstick (240) – The Be Legendary cream lipsticks are enriched with shea butter to deeply hydrate the lips while imparting vibrant colour. Vitamin C & E adds a boost of antioxidants to protect and perfect.
Two new shades have been added to the collection and will be available in March:
- Tabloid – a vibrant purple shade I can see myself wearing the whole of winter.
- Nude Beach – A pale coral that slightly intensifies the natural colour of your lips.
Smashbox Be Legendary Matte lipstick (R240) – This lipstick offers a silky, hybrid formula with vivid colour that glides on smoothly. Again, Vitamin C and E has been added to ensure the saturated colour doesn’t dry lips out. This formula is also long lasting, staying put for a good 5 hours +. I’m crazy about the new shade (available March) “Pinch Me” – A bright coral that works well for day or evening.
