What excites me so about the Aldo Rise collaborations, is that they bring you styles by world-renowned designers that you can actually afford!
This week Thursday (5 February) the hotly anticipated, Aldo Rise collection by Otswald Helgason hits stores. This is the second collaboration the London based label have done with Aldo Rise.
Susanne Ostwald and Ingvar Helgason started their label in 2008 and the design duo is renowned for their super cool, edgy take on luxury sportswear.
“For fall, we were inspired by the impossible amalgamation of two artists’ works that couldn’t be more different but are of almost the same time: German conceptualist Joseph Beuys and American pop artist Roy Lichtenstein,” said Susanne Ostwald, creative director for Ostwald Helgason.“In the collection we combine elements that are particular to their work: felt is merged with bright poppy leathers and vinyls, shiny meets matte, clean shapes are sliced, shrunk or cut away. We wanted to achieve a look that was polished and playful, and most importantly, wearable. Apart from aesthetics, we thought about practicality, so the shoes and bags had to feel as effortless gliding down the runway as dashing about on cobblestones.”
The footwear collection includes ankle boots in leather, suede and tweed, a suede mule and a suede three-piece shoe, all showcasing vinyl-wrapped cylindrical heels. The handbags include structured satchels, crossbody and mini bags in contrasting materials and hardware.
I’ve got my eye on the mule below with it’s edgy gold block heel and ankle strap detail. And I can tell you one thing, with a sturdy heel like that, it’s sure to be super comfortable!
The Aldo Rise X Otswald Helgason collection will only be available at Menlyn, V&A Waterfront and Sandton.
