Last week I received some gorgeous metallic foil temporary tattoos from Flash ink (check their site out here). I’ve been hugely excited about trying them out as they’re arguably one of the hottest beauty trends at the moment.

Being totally inspired, I decided to adorn my finger with one of these tattoos. Because they’re so eye-catching, I thought I’d pair it with a neutral mani, given a bit of an edge with a little glitter painted over my ring fingers. I used ‘Hint’ nail lacquer by Michael Kors (R215 available at selected Stuttafords, Edgars, Foschini, Truworths) and Enamel Dream in 201 (R109) by Inglot (Buy it here)

I decided to keep with the natural theme for my toes and opted for a dazzling white. A white mani or pedi is still very on trend and looks so fresh. My shoes are by Melissa – I adore the aubergine colour that seems to work with just about everything in my cupboard. Capetonians, make sure you check out the new Melissa store in Canal Walk – it gorgeous.

I used my favourite white of the moment,  ‘Marshmallow’ by Essie (R120 available at Clicks stores) a brilliant white that looks brilliant with a tan. I then placed a simple metallic star foil tattoo on my foot. My hubby reckons I needed more to make a statement, but I quite like how subtle, yet trendy the single star looks.

Using the foil tattoos was super easy. Once you’ve decided on a tattoo, cut out around it as close as possible to the edge of the tattoo. Ensure your skin is clean and dry and free from any body lotion, sunscreen, oil etc.

Next, remove the plastic sheeting, place the tattoo down on your skin and hold a wet cloth or sponge against it for approximately 30 seconds. Thereafter, it should peel off and the tattoo should have transferred into your skin. Super easy. It’s important to allow your tattoo to set (about 2 hours), before stretching your skin or going swimming. I jumped into the pool 30 minutes after applying mine and they peeled off! I then re-applied them, waited 2 hours, swam two more time & took a long bath – and they still look great!

Flash Ink temporary metallic tattoos last anywhere from 2-6 days. Avoid using any oil-based products (like body lotion or sunscreen) over them, as the oils in these products will affect the tattoos adhesive. Flash Ink tattoos are easy to remove too. Simply soak them with baby oil or makeup remover for about a minute and then gently rub them off.
