Very rarely do I actually buy beauty products. The reason (obviously) is because I’m sent so many to review. On a daily basis, boxes filled to the brim with lipsticks, fragrances and skincare arrive at my door. Sometimes, I’ll receive up to 100 products a week (this also includes products from launches etc.)! I know, shame – poor me…
So, when I do buy products, they tend to be regulars I use and love.
The three products above I actually buy, on a monthly basis, because they’re just so damn great.
First up is the Nivea Q10 Plus Firming Body Lotion R54.99. This body lotion launched about 7 or 8 years ago (could be even longer), and that’s how long I’ve been using it. I fell in love with it long before my beauty editor days.
Just so you know, Q10 is a naturally found in the skin and it works to keep the skin firm. As we age, the body’s natural levels of Q10 decrease and the skin is not as great at renewing itself as it once was. This body lotion enriches the natural levels of Q10 helping your skin to stay toned and supple.
Now, in my mind, it makes perfect sense to use a daily body lotion that helps with firming – why the heck not? Don’t get me wrong, this body lotion is no miracle cream that will firm the bod while you much on pastries and drink wine. Obviously you need to follow a sensible diet and exercise regime to see real benefits. Just so we’re clear, I don’t exercise and I drink wine and eat a (LOT) of pastries.
What I love about this body lotion is the wonderfully nourishing formula that really hydrates the skin, without leaving it feeling greasy. I also really enjoy the subtle smell that doesn’t fight with your fragrance. I like the variation for normal skin, but there’s also one (in a blue bottle) for very dry skin.
The Dove Deeply Nourishing Nutrium moisture Shower Cream R28.99 is another favourite. For as long as I can remember (before body washes were the rage and we all still used bar soap) I’ve been using Dove. It was the only soap that actually lived up to its claim and didn’t dry my skin out. While I love all Dove’s variations of body washes, this one is my absolute favourite. It’s really gentle on the skin, contains no colourants, lathers well and only a small amount is need to wash your whole body. I like that it also deeply moisturisers the skin, so I can easily get away without using a moisturiser after washing my body with this.
Shield Clinical Protection Ultra Dry Anti-Perspirant R69.99 is HANDS DOWN THE BEST deodorant I’ve EVER used. Ladies, trust me when I say no matter how friggin hot – you WILL NOT SWEAT OR SMELL when you use this. While I try other formulas, I keep going back to this.
The product is formulated with technology that protects against odour and wetness. In addition, it contains moisturising agents, is dermatologically tested and alcohol free. It works by forming a protective layer on the skin, while allowing it to breathe. Microcapsules of odour-fighting technology are released throughout the day, especially in moments of stress and anxiety.
I like the soft, solid cream consistency that takes a minute or two to dry. Shield reckons you should apply the formula at night, (while the body is resting and the sweat glands are less active) so a deep layer of protection can form, which is effective throughout the next day – EVEN AFTER A SHOWER!
Because I’m a beauty rebel, I apply mine in the morning – which is perfectly fine too.
Try these three basic beauties, I promise you’ll love them.
