With the craziness of the holidays literally just around the corner, my skin is feeling the pressure. Crazy deadlines, early morning and late evening are all my current reality.
The four products picture above are really helping my skin get through the ‘crazy’ season.
SkinCeuticals CE Ferulic R1790 for a 30ml bottle
I love this stuff and always advise women (young & old) to to add an antioxidant treatment to their beauty regime.
Antioxidants mop up free radicals (caused by UV exposure, stress & pollution). Free radicals are unstable molecules that damage our cells, cause ageing and can even cancer. They’re nasty ‘buggers’ you really, really want to eliminate.
In the past two years I’ve already worked through two bottles of SkinCeuticals CE Ferulic. I’m always amazed at how quickly my skin responds to it. You can read my previous review here.
To summarise, this super antioxidant serum protects the skin from oxidative stress with a cocktails of powerful antioxidants:
- Vitamin C – Neutralizes free radicals
- Vitamin E – Blitzes free radicals while replenishing the skin’s lipid layer – ensuring skin stays hydrated for longer.
- Ferulic Acid – A plant based antioxidant that eliminates free radicals, while soothing any redness or irritation – thanks to its anti-inflammatory properties.
Kiehl’s Super Multi-Corrective Eye-opening Serum R495
I apologise upfront to the Kiehl’s PR gals (Nina & Christine, sorry), who asked that we don’t feature this ‘sample’ packaging. But, I literally took this shot yesterday morning, and have to feature this brilliant eye treatment. So ladies, please be aware that this is NOT what the actual product packaging looks like.
To be honest, this really is one of the first eye treatments I’ve ever really committed to (for longer than a week). What really piqued my interest when I first received it, was that it’s formulated for use on the upper eyelid – in addition to under and around eyes. Now, as we age, the top eyelids (sadly) start sagging. This treatment counteracts this with a botanical called ‘Rhamnose’ that thickens and lifts the skin. I saw a slight improvement in just 2 weeks!
The formula also contains Hyaluronate to retain moisture and plump fine lines, as well as skin illuminating minerals to brighten the area. It has a very lightweight texture, and one can actually see the illuminating minerals in this pearlescent cream.
REN Frankincense Revitalising Night Cream R470 for a 50ml
This stuff is just divine. I adore the gorgeous, balmy like texture that instantly soothes and nourishes the skin. One would assume that with such a rich texture, this cream would leave the skin with a heavy veil of moisture that could make skin oily. Not so! I was amazed at how quickly this balm absorbed, leaving my skin with an almost matt feeling. It is a great option for ageing (30+) skin that is dehydrated, but falls within the normal, combination or oily skin type.
It has a subtle smell that I’m told is frankincense. It’s not unpleasant in the least, but some may have an issue with it – so be aware and try the product first.
I like that it’s packaged in an airtight container as this keeps ingredients intact, while being more hygienic. Because the container is see-through, you need to keep it in a dark and dry place (like the bathroom cabinet).
The formula contains the following ingredients:
Vitamin C to combat free radicals, while boosting collagen formation.
Frankincense and Boswellic Acid that relaxes facial muscles to help soothe expression lines and wrinkles.
Phytosterols from Camellia and wheat germ that boost the lipid layer, keeping skin hydrated.
Dermalogica dynamic skin recovery SPF50 R990 for a 50ml
This moisturiser is just perfect for our harsh sun, especially in summer. It provides the skin with long-lasting hydration, while protecting it from UV damage. In addition to an SPF 50, it has white tea extract – an extremely effective antioxidant that also works to minimize pigmentation.
It blends beautifully; leaving the skin with a soft and matte finish that protects and nourishes it all day.
