The newly launched Revlon Colorstay Moisture Stain (R169) is fast becoming my summer go-to lippie. The first time I tried them, I was expecting a matt, fast drying stain – typical of a traditional stain. But this is not your traditional stain. This unique formula drenches lips in glossy, wet colour – almost like a liquid lip balm. While tradition lips stains tend to be very watery (and drying), this one is not. I’d describe it as a hydrating, creamy liquid/gel. A single application coats the lips with light colour, while two coats really make the colour pop.

The best thing about them is that they really hydrate the lips (thanks to the addition of Vitamin E & Aloe) without being the least bit sticky. I find they last for about 2-3 hours. The lighter colours didn’t really leave any stain on my lips after they wore off, but the darker shades (New York Scene & Stockholm Chic) did.

These lippies can also double up as a cheek stain. Simply apply a little product to the apples of the cheeks and blend.

Cannes Crush – An orangey/pink that coats lips with a jelly-like glossy shine. This is a great everyday option.

New York Scene – A bold, deep plummy red that I think will work really well on olive and dark skintones. I can see myself rocking this shade in the cooler months.

Rio Crush – A dazzling, popping pink that gives the lips a very colourful edge.

Stockholm Chic – A brick red that actually look very natural on the lips – I find it enhances my natural lip colour by about 3 shades.
