There’s something rather satisfying about a new pair of spectacles. Suddenly, everything looks a little *cough* sharper — and, in my case, considerably more stylish.
So, when my new VOGUE Eyewear – style VO 5709 – were finally ready for collection, I was instantly besotted.

And what better occasion to unveil them than at the launch of a brand-new eye-care product from Dermalogica?

Meet Smart Eye Density Undereye Serum (SHOP), a targeted formula designed to address some of the common signs of visible ageing around the delicate eye area — including hollow or sunken-looking under-eyes, fine lines and wrinkles, thinning skin and dark circles.
What makes the serum particularly interesting is its focus on helping to improve the density and overall appearance of the skin beneath the eyes.

The formulation brings together some clever skincare technology and ingredients. Growth factors help support a plumper, re-densified-looking under-eye area, while dehydrated hyaluronic acid microspheres provide hydration and help reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles.

For those concerned about dark circles and thinning skin, sweet potato root extract combined with CoQ10 helps reduce the appearance of dark circles while visibly firming the delicate under-eye area. Rye seed extract works to improve the appearance of skin tone and revitalise tired-looking eyes, while fermented polyglutamic acid gives hydration another boost and helps strengthen the skin barrier — contributing to a fuller-looking under-eye.
Of course, skincare is never just about the ingredients. How you apply a product can make a difference to the experience too.

During the launch, Kendall, Dermalogica’s head trainer, took us through a series of massage techniques designed to be used alongside the eye serum, using Dermalogica’s Dual-Ended Skin Tool. It was a great reminder that a few considered minutes of massage can turn an everyday skincare step into much more of a ritual.
And then there was the setting.

The launch took place at Chorus Restaurant at Waterkloof Wine Estate, where the food was exquisite and the views were, quite simply, breathtaking.

It was one of those occasions where the surroundings, conversation, beauty discoveries and a little bit of glamour all came together perfectly.
So, new spectacles? Tick.
New eye serum? Tick.
A little more knowledge about looking after the skin around my eyes? Definitely.
And perhaps the best part is that my new VOGUE frames are now giving me an even better view of all that skincare science.
New specs. New eye serum. A fresh perspective on eye care.
