Some evenings simply stay with you long after they’ve ended. They’re not just about beautiful surroundings or exceptional food, but about the people, the conversations and those little thoughtful details that make an experience feel truly special.
My recent trip to Johannesburg for the Vichy Tribe dinner was exactly that—a celebration of skincare, friendship and the confidence that comes from feeling comfortable in your own skin.
If you’ve been here for a while, you’ll know that I’m incredibly selective about the beauty products I recommend. Every detail had been thoughtfully considered, creating an atmosphere that was equal parts chic and celebratory.
And, of course, there was only one colour to wear.
I slipped into my favourite red satin dress from H&M—a purchase I made almost two years ago after convincing myself I’d hardly ever have an opportunity to wear it. Thankfully, I couldn’t have been more wrong.
It has become one of those timeless wardrobe pieces that never fails to make me feel confident, elegant and just a little bit glamorous. Sometimes the pieces you hesitate to buy end up becoming the ones you treasure the most.
Dinner was every bit as memorable as the setting. I began with tender calamari served alongside delicate zucchini spaghetti, toasted pine nuts, fresh lime and a beautifully creamy aioli.
It was fresh, vibrant and packed with flavour.
For my main course, I chose the beef fillet, cooked to absolute perfection and served with an indulgent oxtail ragù, exotic mushrooms, roast potatoes and a rich Madagascan pepper sauce. Every mouthful was comfort food at its finest, elevated with the kind of finesse that makes you slow down and savour every bite. By the time dessert arrived, I simply couldn’t fit in another course—although I was certainly tempted.
As if the evening couldn’t get any better, Vichy spoiled each of us with the most beautiful gifts. Waiting at our seats was a personalised red Le Creuset water bottle engraved with our initials—a practical keepsake I’ll use for years to come.
