While we all know Levi’s to be the global leader in denim, I admit, I had to do a deep dive to learn more about ADSB ANDERSSON BELL.
A distinguished fashion brand, ADSB ANDERSSON BELL was established in 2014 by a Creative Director inspired by the compelling contrast between Korean and Scandinavian cultures. The name “ADSB ANDERSSON BELL” encapsulates this unique blend: “Andersson,” derived from a traditional Swedish surname, and “Bell,” representing the iconic temple bells of Korea. Together, these elements symbolize the harmonious integration of two contrasting cultural legacies.
ADSB ANDERSSON BELL strives to redefine contemporary fashion by seamlessly incorporating diverse cultural characteristics. The brand embodies a refined sensibility that challenges conventional Korean aesthetics. Its core philosophy emphasizes the importance of transcending tradition, uniting disparate or opposing elements to uncover unexpected and exquisite beauty.
Together with Levi’s, ADSB ANDERSSON BELL will launch a ten-piece collection that features a Pleated Skirt, Denim Corset, Spliced Trucker, Half Trucker, Overlay Jean, Baggy Jean, Mini Dress, Cinched Blouse, and Second Skin top.
Designed to be worn together, the Denim Corset and Pleated Skirt offer the perfect matching set. The mid-weight Pleated Skirt includes sewn pleats, a front zip fly, and co-branded patch on the back hip. Crafted with halter top strap detailing, adjustable button holes, and a garter detail that can connect to the skirt, the Denim Corset’s gusseted lace-up details on the back offer first customization for a range of body types.
The deconstructed and reconstructed Spliced Trucker utilizes ADSB ANDERSSON BELL wool fabric with non-stretch denim to form a slightly oversized jacket that weaves in iconic Levi’s features, like Type II pleating at the center front. For a boxy, slimmer fit, the Half Trucker shows off intricate features – open lacing at the shoulders and a bustier front that exemplifies its design ethos of mixing styles and materials. Both jackets feature a special co-branded back patch on the back.
The two new pairs of jeans offer clever interpretations of beloved Levi’s denim. Playing with pattern with “misplaced” pockets and asymmetrical features, the Overlay Jean and Baggy Jean reimagine classic Levi’s features through the ADSB ANDERSSON BELL future-forward fashion lens.
The deconstructed and reconstructed Overlay Jean offers an overlapping front closure while the Baggy Jean comes with a contrast yoke and frayed details. Both come with a co-branded patch on the wearer’s back right.
With an organic wavy, patchwork design and frayed edging, the Mini Dress is a truly unique piece. The back’s thoughtful details –shirred portion for a better fit and double straps (halter back closure, plus adjustable spaghetti straps – are sure to surprise. The Cinched Blouse looks minimalist in a monochrome neutral but offers an unexpected twist with a triangle shaped silhouette and an asymmetrical back yoke. The ecru herringbone woven blouse has functional flap pockets and a soft hand feel.
Finally, the two Second Skin tops (picture above) pay homage to Levi’s heritage with a waistband print and sublimation print of Levi’s archival artwork. On the first, the graphic and bold print juxtaposes the sleek simplicity of the fit and adds vibrance to a jeans and tee look. On the second, iconic denim details are deconstructed and printed as a trompe-l’œil on smooth, soft high-stretch fabric.
The Levi’s x ADSB ANDERSSON BELL collection launches Friday, October 4th on ADSB ANDERSSON BELL and Saturday, October 5th on levi.co.za, and Sandton City.
