Red may be the ultimate statement lip colour, but berry is just as bold and beautiful.
Along with a trench coat and cool sunnies, winter is the perfect season for a berry lip shade. I think every woman should have (at least) one in her makeup bag.
Just like red, there’s a berry shade to suit every skin tone. Most makeup artists recommend that the paler you are, the lighter you should go with your shade, while darker skin tones can opt for the real blackberry shades. While this advice is great, I believe that if you have the confidence in your look, you can carry just about any look off.
Never being one to follow the rules, my berry shade of choice for winter is the darkest shade of blackberry I could find.
The shade is called ‘Extra Shot’ and is from the Revlon Colorstay Limitless Matte collection, R239 BUY
This liquid lipstick is made with 100% Vegan ingredients, has a lightweight, non-tightening formula and is suitable for sensitive lips.
The formula is matte, comfortable and has 24HR wear. There’s a triple hyaluronic acid + cranberry extract ensuring lips are hydrated.
The patented, lip-hugging applicator delivers a smooth coat of vibrant colour, while the pointed tip lines lips with controlled precision. This formula holds all day and will not budge. You need an oil-based makeup remover – nothing else will take the formula off (try this one HERE by Elizabeth Arden – it’s fabulous)
My Three top berry shades from the Revlon Colorstay Limitless Matte collection include:
Real Deal – A lighter shade of berry with pink undertones.
Extra Shot – a dark blackberry shade – the one I’m wearing in the pictures.
Hype Girl – a dark red, merlot shade.
How do I wear the rest of my makeup with a berry lip?
When wearing a bold lip colour, the rest of your makeup should be paired down. A light base to cover imperfections, bold brows, a single coat of mascara and a touch of cream blush is all that’s needed.
