BOSJES is an idyllic destination with breathtaking gardens, award winning architecture & spectacular food. I was invited to this blissful bolt hole to kick back, relax and check out the farms newly reimagined spa.
BOSJES is a working farm that produces olives, wine grapes, peaches and proteas. It’s situated in the fertile Breedeklook Valley and framed by the Slanghoek and Waaihoek mountains.
The award-winning Chapel the farm is best known for was designed by Studio Steyn of London with Psalm 36:7 being the inspiration.
I love how various flora such as succulents, Renosterveld, indigenous forest and water plants all come together in a tapestry of contrasts in the gardens that surround BOSJES. There are surprises everywhere like a hidden informal play areas, a garden café and a shop.
Luxury accommodation is available at BOSJES. My Master suite allowed for majestic views from my queen size bed.
My favourite pastime soon became spotting giraffe, bontebok, kwagga or Eland who are among the habituated game. And what a joy to relax and luxuriate in the generous bathtub with a glass of bubbles in hand.
The food at BOSJES is spectacular!
BOSJES Kombuis reflects the history and culinary traditions of the farm. One is able to select delicious meals from a seasonal menu.
For guests who overnight, the Eetkamer has a great range of breakfast favourites. You can also enjoy lunch or dinner here.
BOSJES Spens, the Afrikaans for “pantry”, is situated in the planted forest and indigenous gardens, burrowed under a planted roof with a sprawling lawn in front.
BOSJES have just unveiled their expanded, reimagined Die Stalle Spa. A designation spa worth a visit.
Housed in what was once the farm’s original stables, Die Stalle Spa is a contemporary space that includes a collection of whitewashed, low-slung buildings with deep recesses, cross-braced stable doors and oversized brass detailing.
Curved walls and textured stucco surfaces create the feeling of age, comfort and sensuality, while towering walls of dry-packed stone and innovative glass dividers create an incredible indoor/outdoor flow.
There are six serene treatment rooms, a mani-pedi station, sauna and Rasul Chamber. The hydrotherapy pool area offers expansive views to the slopes of the Waaihoek mountains. A few steps from the pool deck brings guests to the Spa Garden. Here boardwalks meander between fynbos gardens and sparkling natural freshwater ponds. The interplay of water, wind and light creates a natural haven for guests to relax after treatments.
Theravine and Theranaka products are used in both the facial and body treatments. Both brands are produced in the Cape Winelands; in line with BOSJES’ commitment to local sourcing and supporting job creation in the region.
Do try the signature Wood Massage, a 90-minute treatment that combines specialized wooden implements rolled over the body with warm olive and shea butter infused with mandarin and neroli. Pure bliss!
BOSJES is a true multi-day destination in the Breede River Valley. From the varied dining experiences to the luxury accommodation, the gardens to the spa, one day is simply not enough to discover all that BOSJES has to offer.
