You may have noticed my blog & social media has been very quiet this week. That’s because I’ve been shooting, art directing and styling a campaign for Havaianas South Africa.
Best of all, I’m able to show you a few images from the shoot that focus on the amazing styles Havaianas have for Pride this year.
Launched in June 2020, the Havaianas Pride platform came to reaffirm Havaianas commitment to the LGBTQIA+ Community. Since then, the brand has included the products of the “Pride” line to Havaianas’s permanent portfolio, with extended sizes and several designs. The Company allocates 7% of the net profit from sales with this collection to the All Out NGO, a global institutions that fights for the rights of the LGBTQIA+ Community.
The Havaianas PRIDE styles are adorned with vibrant colors which pay tribute to the LGBTQIA+ flag with six colors.

4 Interesting Facts about Pride
Pride parades weren’t always called Pride. When early Pride events started, they were more militant, and were more often referred to as marches. “Gay Liberation” or “Gay Freedom” were more common names for those marches. As militancy slowly decreased in the 1980s and 1990s, events moved toward a parade-structure and the “Pride” language.
Every Colour of the Pride rainbow flag means something. Hot pink represents sexuality. Red represents life. Orange represents healing. Yellow represents sunlight. Green represents nature. Turquoise represents magic & art. Indigo represents serenity & harmony. Violet represents spirit.
The original Pride flag was designed in 1978 by Gilbert Baker & flown at the gay Freedom Day Parade in San Francisco. Thirty volunteer hand-dyed and stitched the first two flags for the parade.
The largest Pride parade is in Sao Paulo, Brazil. In 2006, the Guinness Book of World Records named Sao Paulo’s parade the largest Gay Pride celebration in the world, with over 2.5 million attendees. They haven’t lost the title since.
