Shew, I’m getting this post out just in time!
If you still haven’t done your Christmas shopping and need some inspiration, check out my top 6 picks for gals (that love a beauty spoil, obvs).
I’ve tried to include all my favourites that are affordable luxuries, with the most expensive gift being just under R600.
The Ultimate Beauty Oil Spoil
The Nuxe Hulie Prodigieuse is one of my top 5 favourite beauty products.
This multi-use, multi-purpose dry oil works to repair, nourish and beautify the face, body and hair. It smells heavenly & contains 7 nourishing oils. It’s a joy to use!
I was so delighted to discover that Nuxe recently commissioned students at Penninghen – the French art and design school – to transform, as a limited seasonal edition, the iconic oil bottle.
The brief was to create a unique new look for this cult classic, expressing their own modern vision of a prestigious summer.
The students displayed impressive creative skills, developing designs for 3 limited edition bottles incorporating the theme of swimming pools, representing a “chilled” summer atmosphere.
Turquoise makes a refreshing and prominent splash on the iconic bottle, in a structured mosaic grid pattern with hazy wave effects.
I got the bottle that features a bather diving into a pool, wearing a red cozy. The others two feature a bather poolside, and one swimming underwater.
The images have a definite Art Noveau inspiration and I just adore how very French they are.
Nuxe Hulie Prodigieuse “Pool” R520 each for a 100ml bottle.
Mini’s that Every Woman Will Love
Could there be more adorable beauty themed stocking fillers than these beauties from Skin Creamery? I think not!
The Slow Beauty Collection (R350 – BUY) features a collection of mini-sized luxury products for the skin that soothe, nourish & protect. Perfect for traveling (when we all get around to it again), gifting and filling those Xmas stockings.
The products contained include:
The Deep Cleansing Powder – a powerhouse of all-natural herbs and minerals that cleanse and purify from deep within pores without drying the skin.
The Facial Hydrating Oil – an omega elixir for dewy radiant skin that locks in moisture, nourishes and protects.
The Wildflower Water-Cream – a hydrating, multipurpose beauty elixir, using indigenous botanicals to refine and smooth the skin’s surface, leaving a refreshed, youthful glow. This is one of my favourite products from the brand!
*You can buy Skin Creamery products in-store at Woolworths & Poetry*
Then there the Basic Set (R320 – BUY)
Included is the Oil Milk Cleanser that lifts make-up & impurities from the skin as it gently nourishes. It can be safely used around the eye area and actually conditions lashes & brows. I love how the oils emulsify into a creamy milk when you add water, effectively cleaning the skin without drying it out.
There’s also a bottle of (my favourite) Everyday Cream – an all-purpose moisturiser than can be used on face & body. It’s a beautiful formula that regenerates, rejuvenates & hydrates skin. It contains Baobab oil, Vitamins A, D and E and Jojoba Oil and can be used on all skin types. This was the product that launched the Skin Creamery brand and has become a bit of a cult classic over the years.
For the Health Nut
Collagen based beauty drinks are all the rage these days.
*You can buy SKOON products in-store at Clicks & EGG Cavendish Square*
Essentially, this is skincare you can drink.
Packed with skin beneficial ingredients like Marine Collagen, Antioxidants, Vitamins & minerals, Probiotics and digestive enzymes to nourish skin & gut from the inside.
Mix with 200ml water or juice and enjoy or stir into your yoghurt or smoothie. You could even make summer popsicles – the formula is that delish!
Each box contains 30 x 7.5 gram sachets.
For the Perfume Lover
You’d be forgiven for thinking Labeau is a heritage French fragrance brand when, in fact, it’s Spanish and focuses on producing uncomplicated, beautifully made fragrances. The brand name, Lab for laboratory and Eau for water and Beau for beauty, really do marry the brands vision of finely crafted fragrance with a minimalistic appeal.
The result is fresh, elegant florals that smell just like a bouquet of your favourite blooms.
Best of all, a 100ml bottle retails for just R599
Four fragrance variants are available in the line:
l’eau de rose
l’eau de jasmine
I received a bottle of the l’eau d’iris which is based on rose and the delicate sensuality of the iris. It also contains citrus notes that give it a fresh and light appeal. There’s also a hint of musk in the dry down.
For the Makeup Lover
Every year Clarins do a limited-edition Summer collection that always includes a bronzer.
Below is the limited edition 2020 Summer Collection Sunkissed Bronzing Powder (R485)
Now, let me tell you, in all my years of writing about beauty, I’m yet to find a bronzer on par with the Clarins ones. I love how the formula gives the skin a very natural, sun kissed glow, is soft & easy to blend and can be used on face & body.
The bronzing powder is always matte, which is always the finish to look for in a good bronzer.
The packaging is also always exquisite as is the patter that is stamped on the powder. One of these compact lasts me a good year (if not longer) and that’s me using it every day!
And if you’re still not sold, the formula now contains an anti-pollution complex (essential of you live in the city) and is enriched with plant extracts.
I’ve just found out that this bronzer sold out on the local Clarins online platform in just FOUR HOURS!
Luckily, a few are still available. If you’re keen on this Sunkissed Bronzing Powder, get out and purchase it in-store NOW at Clarins counters nationwide. You can also purchase it online at Truworths HERE
