Looking for a new summer scent? I’ve rounded up eight of the very best that I know you’ll love!
Elizabeth Arden White Tea Mandarin Blossom
First up is one of my favourite fragrance launches of the season, Elizabeth Arden White Tea Mandarin Blossom. Now, I LOVE a citrus based scent, and this one contains luminous notes of mandarin, orange flower and lemon, interwoven with Neroli (another favourite), Jasmine, White Tea & musk’s.
Elizabeth Arden White Tea Mandarin Blossom is such an easy wearing scent that really uplifts one’s mood. In fact, I’d go so far as to say it’s my current favourite.

Lancôme La Vie Est Belle Intensément EDP
I do adore the Lancôme La Vie Est Belle fragrances, so was very excited when this one launched earlier this year. This scent is all about happiness and joy and living life to the fullest – a sentiment I can totally get behind!
La Vie Est Belle Intensément is classified as an Oriental Floral fragrance & has top notes of Raspberry, Pink Pepper & bergamot, and heart notes include Heliotrope, jasmine Sambac & Orange Blossom. The base notes are Vanilla, Benzoin, Iris, Sandalwood & Patchouli. This fragrance has excellent longevity and I could still smell it after 8 hours of wear. If you enjoy Oriental scents & heady notes of white flowers, this is the scent for you.
Lancôme La Vie Est Belle Intensément EDP prices: 30ml R1,250, 50ml R1,600, 100ml R2,200
Montblanc Signature EDP
Montblanc’s new fragrance is called Signature and is classified as a Floriental (oriental-floral) scent. Signature manages to expertly blend opulent and sensual vanilla notes with clean facets of white musk. There are fresh notes of fruity clementine in the opening, which give way to a floral heart notes of ylang-ylang and magnolia. Also, how stunning is the opalescent bottle the white lacquering? It’s a tribute to the iconic inkwell – part of Montblanc’s very special heritage.
I’d describe this as a very elegant scent that’s light, wearable and not too overpowering. It would make a great fragrance for someone who prefers a more subtle scent.
Montblanc Signature EDP prices: 30ml R999, 50ml R1199, 90ml R1499
YSL Black Opium Neon Eau de Parfum
The newest scent from YSL’s Black Opium line is simply superb! It’s a vibrant and indulgent twist on the original with opening notes of coffee, softened by an orange blossom heart and brightened with a mesmerizing dragon Fruit Accord. It falls in the Oriental fragrance family thanks to its heady vanilla notes.
Top notes include Pitahaya, Mandarin Orange & Citron; heart notes are Coffee, Orange Blossom & Jasmine Sambac; base notes include Vanilla & Musk. I also really like the bottles new, elongated shape and how the iconic window is lit up by flashy neon pink.

Berdoues Guaria Morada
This gorgeous fragrance is, in essence, an olfactory interpretation of Costa Rica’s exuberant beauty. Inspiration was taken from the countries lush landscape and the countries unique & iconic flower: Guaria Morada. This beautiful French fragrance contains top notes of Ylang-Ylang, Pear & Orange Blossom; heart notes of Mandarin & Tuberose and a base of Patchouli & Vanilla. Guaria Morada falls into the fruity floral fragrance category and is easy to wear, has good longevity and will resonate with most age groups.

Coco Mademoiselle L’Eau Privée
If you’re a fan of the original Coco Mademoiselle, you’ll love this new version, which is softer, more delicate interpretation. I love the way bold, citrus notes intertwine with floral jasmine and rose petal accents. The woody notes from the original scent have been toned down with comforting white musk. I love the way the bottle is elegantly frosted with L’Eau Privée etched in gold lettering. This is another of my personal favourite fragrance launches of 2020.
Coco Mademoiselle L’Eau Privée price: 100ml R2315 available at Woolworths
Berdoues Bondi Beach & Sunrise Beach
I love a mix & match concept in scent, so the new, limited edition, Berdoues Bondi Beach & Sunrise Beach are just up my alley.
Sunrise Beach has a sunny & somewhat exotic personality with notes of mandarin, lime & davana (aromatic herb from India). It’s inspired by Thailand’s magical lagoon paradise (every scent in the Berdoues line is inspired by a place).
Bondi Beach is a sparkling scent with notes of bergamot & lemon combined with neroli & vanilla. It’s inspired by the famous Australian beach that’s renowned for its spectacular views.
Both scents (sold separately) can be worn on their own or layered together.
