Oral health is something I’m passionate about. From a very young age, my mother always emphasized the importance of proper brushing & flossing daily and this is something I’ve passed onto my daughter.

When Curaprox approached me asking if I’d like to try their Hydrosonic Pro Electric Toothbrush R3,400 (BUY), I jumped at the opportunity. Reason being, I believe an electric toothbrush cleans teeth and gums better than a manual one (although manual options are often recommended by dentists for specific issues, when an electric toothbrush is just not suitable).

I’ve read a few studies where scientists found that people who use an electric toothbrush have healthier gums, less tooth decay, and keep their teeth for longer, compared to those who use a manual toothbrush. Also, once you’ve used an electric toothbrush, it’s very hard to go back to a manual one.

Now, while brushing is super important, I was quite taken aback to learn a few things about the oral microbiome that I have to share:

The Importance of the Oral Microbiome

The bacteria in the mouth corresponds closely with a range of systemic diseases like cardiovascular disorders, rheumatic arthritis, strokes, inflammatory disease of the internal organs, colo-rectal cancer, respiratory tract inflammation and many more.

This underpins the importance of daily tooth brushing!

Climate Change in the Mouth

Yes, this is a thing! Sugar encourages cavity-causing bacteria (this we know), but it also inhibits the growth of many bacteria beneficial to the health of the dental enamel. Why? Because the pH of the mouth decreases due to the cavity-causing bacteria’s metabolism. Bottom line: brush your teeth after eating sugar!

Clever Eating

Research has shown that a low carb diet combined with lots of Vitamin C & D, fibre, antioxidants & Omega 3 Fatty acids can lower inflammation related periodontal diseases like gingivitis & periodontitis.

Now that you’re aware of just how important brushing teeth is, lets chat more about the Curaprox Hydrosonic Pro and its unique features.

Along with the functional, almost futuristic hand piece, the Curaprox Hydrosonic Pro comes with 3 brush heads, giving you everything you need to achieve & maintain oral health at a professional level.

3 BRUSH Heads: POWER, SENSITIVE & SINGLE.

The POWER head is great for those with healthy gums as its powerful yet gentle.

The SENSITIVE head is especially soft & highly efficient. It’s great for those with sensitive gums, gingivitis, periodontitis & peri-implantitis (dental disease).

The SINGLE head is great for gaps between teeth, implants, bridges, brackets & those with bracers. It also works well for cleaning around implants & polishing the tooth surfaces.

The ergonomic of these brush heads, that have a small 10 to 15-degree angle that allows one to effectively clean areas that are difficult to reach, like behind the molars or the backs of the front teeth.

Worth a mention too, are the bristle used on the toothbrush heads. Compared to standard nylon bristles, the CUREN filaments have the benefit of not absorbing water, so performance is constant.

The Hydrosonic Pro comes in a handy travel case

7 Modes of Cleaning:

I really like that with the Hydrosonic Pro, you’re able to select a mode of cleaning that’s right for your teeth.

Start Mode: For special cleaning on orthodontic devices and prosthesis.

Clean Mode: 3 different intensities. Use with the sensitive or power brush heads

Smile Mode: 3 different modes. Use with the sensitive or power brush

A short interruption lets you know when 30 seconds have passed. A long interruption lets you know when two minutes have passed (it’s recommended you brush for at least two minutes). After four minutes, the Hydrosonic Pro turns off automatically.

Making Brushing Fun!

I also have to mention the Curaprox range of toothpastes, which are just too delightful (R270 for a tube that includes a manual toothbrush).

The bold and bright packaging is so cool and the flavours are awesome. They include: Gin and Tonic + Persimmon, Peach + Apricot, Watermelon, Blackberry + Liquorice, Apple + Aloe (my favourite) and Grapefruit & Bergamot.

I mean, talk about making brushing your teeth fun!

My boyfriend and I often travel to go visit our parents who stay far away, and as often as we travel is as often as we forget our toothbrushes at home 😆 it would be so handy to keep this wonderful little system permanently in our travel bags to always keep our teeth fresh during our travels!

I’m an electric toothbrush user because when I used to manually brush I used to brush too hard and my gums began to recede. I also prefer the feeling of an electric toothbrush as it feels like I’m cleaning throughly without being abrasive.

I have an electric toothbrush. It’s fantastic but long in the tooth now. Whhahaa. Excuse the pun

I use a manual toothbrush with soft bristles from the dentist. Unfortunately I brush too hard and caused my gums to recede.

I use a manual toothbrush because it’s all I’ve ever known. I’m open to new things though, so I might just give an electric one a try after reading this review.

I’ve never owned an electrical toothbrush, always felt that if was just too much to spend on a “toothbrush”. I am an overeager toothbrusher – NOT good! Always pressing too hard 😬 and the dentist is always telling me to buy an electrical toothbrush. I would love to own the Curaprox toothbrush so I can tell the dentist that I have at last listened. In the meantime I will stick to my SOFT toothbrush.

I use a manual toothbrush I am not ashamed to say I cant afford a electric toothbrush as much as I would love one and I am well aware of the benefits of using a electric toothbrush its fantastic but unfortunately I cant buy one.

I use a manual toothbrush. I have sensitive teeth so I’ve always been really scared to try new things when it comes to my teeth. I only use a soft manual brush, but my fiance uses an electric brush. He says it’s great and will probably never use a manual brush again. Maybe I should give this one a try.

Not using an electric toothbrush, but definitely want to try! 😍

Still using a manual tooth brush as it’s cheaper. But I would love to win this prize for my teenage son who is about to get braces. It would help him look after his teeth and braces much easier.

Ive always used a manual one. It’s what we could afford. Now switched to a eco friendly bamboo one.
Would really like a go at this electric toothbrush! Sound like teeth brushing experience! I’d love to try it out.

I love the Curaprox manual toothbrushes – really thinking of “splurging “ on this electric one!

I’ve mostly used manual I guess because of cost but always been interested to try electric and see if it makes a difference.

I have used both in the past but definitely prefer electric. It just cleans more intensely and effectively, reaching places a manual toothbrush doesn’t. Electric is the way to go

I use a manual toothbrush with soft bristles, which I always struggle to find. I have tooth sensitivity thus I also use sensodyne Toothpaste.

Would love to change from a manual toothbrush, love seeing all the products you promote, thank you

I use a manual toothbrust but my dentist has recommended i do the switch to electric! This would be AMAZING Also on the hunt for a whitening toothpaste that actually works!!!!

I use a electric toothbrush because I have brushed my gums away..ie brushed too hard, and now I have bad sensitivity. I think the electric toothbrush really has helped me to stop that and is more effective.

I use both an electric and manual. I use the electric at home and manual for going away. I find it easier as dont have to worry about forgetting my charger etc. Such a fantastic giveaway!

I had an electric toothbrush ages ago and loved it – it was a very old model and struggled to find replacement heads. I went back to using manual toothbrushes. I would go back to electric in a heartbeat as I found my teeth felt cleaner but find the cost a prohibiting factor😞

The only reason I have never used an electric toothbrush, is that I find them too expensive to buy. I would love to try it though. Thanks for the awesome giveaway.

I use an electric toothbrush as it reaches all the spots on my teeth that a manual toothbrush can’t. Also it is excellent for my receding gums.

I have never owned an electric toothbrush. I also found them bit pricey. I would love to win and try this awesome prize. As we age my teeth are feeling very sensitive lately & this electric toothbrush should help. This will be more gentle on my teeth and gums.

I use a manual toothbrush , reason I’ve never used a an electric toothbrush because I find them expensive. It will be such a great experience to use an electric one. Awesome giveaway ❤

I use an electric toothbrush as I feel it cleans better especially as the revolving head gets into the gaps better.

Wow! Just going by your review this brush seems amazing. I build up plaque quickly so I am sure this brush is what I need. Gentle but does what it is supposed to do. Truthfully I cannot afford this brush but I would love to be blessed with this give.
Regards Rhonda

I use a manual toothbrush due to sensitivity and would love to try out the electric toothbrush just so amazing

I use a manual toothbrush but would love to have an electric one! Cost is an issue for me !

I use a manual toothbrush because I’ve found my gums to be super sensitive to electric, but its pretty cool that they have different heads and speeds specifically for sensitivity.

I have a manual toothbrush at the moment but have been meaning to buy an electric toothbrush, I just haven’t been to the shops during the Covid. Would so love this

I’ve only ever used manual toothbrushes due to the expense that cones with electric. Would love to be given the opportunity to try 1 out 🙂

I have never owned an electric toothbrush but think it’s time for a change

Such a fruitful giveaway! 🦷👏.

I’ve been using a manual toothbrush for as long as I can remember. It’s all I’ve ever known, and I’m one who likes to stick to a routine that works. Lately, I have been trying to stray away from that, and experiment by incorporating different products with great benefits and ingredients into my self-care routine. This giveaway would be an absolute blessing and great addition. 🍀✨

I recently went to the dentist for a checkup and all was well. The oral hygienist recommended that I use an electric toothbrush because a regular toothbrush starts to corrode the gums after some time. I also brush too hard thinking that this will keep my teeth even cleaner. Years ago I did use an electric toothbrush but the batteries ran dead after using it twice. In the end I spent more time changing batteries than actually using the brush. I have always valued your opinion on everything related to health and beauty. Except the waxing tutorial. I do travel a lot so this Curaprox brush and products would be amazing.

i use a manual toothbrush because i cant afford an electric toothbrush as a single widow mom i must turn every penny around and would love to win this nice prize

I make use of a manual toothbrush and I’ve always been using a manual toothbrush but since last year when my friend was raving about the joy of using an electric brush I’ve been considering getting one for myself. This would be an awesome prize fit me to win as it will give me the opportunity to own one and start using it. I could have all the bragging rights with my brush

I used to use a manual toothbrush, but then bought a Oral-B electric one, but one of the affordable ones. I must say that using an electrical toothbrush has really changed my oral health for the better! I cannot imagine every using a manual brush ever again. And I can only just imagine using a Curaprox brush must be like driving a Ferrari!

Manual toothbrush….. now I feel all guilty, I should have made the move long ago to change to electric, but like visiting the dentist……… I keep putting it off!

I made the change from manual to electric 3 years ago. The reason for my change was to for better oral health. The manual toothbrush I had to change weekly as I have bleeding gums and I always rush and end up hurting my gums. It surely changed my life and my beautifull smile. I have clean teeth and healthy gums day after day. Would love to win this incredible giveaway!

I have used an electric toothbrush forever because my dentist recommended it when I had braces. A manual toothbrush just didn’t work as well and food would always get caught underneath the braces. Now my boys have braces and they have also switched to electric.

I use an electric toothbrush because I have receding gums (gum disease). My current electric toothbrush is terrible – doesn’t hold its charge and constantly lives on charge!

Manual. Momma told me to use it since I was small and momma knows best right?

I use a manual toothbrush cause I never even thought of any other . I did think of bamboo toothbrushes because it’s environmentally friendly but otherwise manual it is.

I have a manual one at the moment because my electric one broke. I choose electric everyday as it feels as if it cleans much better

I like using a electrical toothbrush during weekdays and manual over weekends as I believe they clean differently. I am veru conscious about my teeth as it is crucial to making a good first impression. I love activated charcoal and would love to be able try this.

I use an electric one because my dentist said I was brushing too hard and it caused receding gums

We switched to electric toothbrushes last year when my daughter got her braces fitted, on recommendation from the orthodontist. It’s a big initial investment, but I got them with my eBucks and haven’t looked back!

I use a manual toothbrush with soft bristles, I’m a creature of habit. But would be open to trying electric toothbrush

I am using a manual toothbrush because it’s cheaper than the electric toothbrush.

Manual brush user 🤷 It’s the only one I can afford right now. Would love to go the route of an electric toothbrush, hopefully someday soon.

electric brush , floss and mouthwash

I use an electric, it really makes such a huge difference, my teeth feel so much cleaner.

Manual. I havent tried electric as yet. No specific reason.

I was advised to switch to an electric toothbrush by my prosthodontist prior to my dental overhaul. An electric toothbrush was the smarter choice considering the investment I made in my teeth. There is also an environmental impact of sending less into a landfill when switching to electric.

At the moment I use a manual toothbrush as that’s all we can afford but I would love to try an electric one as I have never before… Thank you

I am using manual toothbrush, the reason is because the is no money to buy to afford an Electric one .I have always wanted to own a Electric toothbrush ,as it would help me to brighten my teeth & help with my itchy teeth.Winning this awesome giveaway would really help me .

I use a manual toothbrush as the electric ones are out of our price range.

I use electric. My teeth feel cleaner and the timer keeps me going for 2 minutes.

I am using a manual toothbrush, simply because i grew up with one and i have never “explored” the option of using an electric one. I was also sceptical to use an electric one as i thought it would not give the same cleanse as “doing it yourself” with the old fashion tooth brush 🙂 this is such an awesome giveaway and a real treat for your teeth! I am also curious to feel the difference on my teeth, it would be a real charm to win and give my hands a break too from the hard core brushing way! haha!

I use a manual one not by choice but by necessity I recently had my teeth cleaned at the dentist must be 1 st time in 3 years. I would like to keep them that way. Pearly whites are not easy to achieve using manual labor. ‘just saying” I’m getting a bit long in the tooth need all the help I can possibly get

Electric all the way… cos my dentist said I should!

I use an electric, am quite a vigorous brusher and my dentist said an electric would be gentler 🙂

Out of habit since young I’m using a normal tooth-brush. Switching to a more effective electric tooth-brush will be great.
