Given the COVID pandemic & the fact that we’re spending most of our time at home, it’s important to ensure our spaces are comforting & inspiring environments that smell good.
I know that when my home smells great, it makes me feel happy & comforted. On the other hand, a home that smells bad is distracting and can make you feel uninspired, overwhelmed & embarrassed. Luckily, ensuring your home smells great is easy & relatively inexpensive.
Investing in incense, scented candles and fragrance diffusers and burners are easy ways of scenting your space.
Recently, I’ve been looking at home fragrance offerings from local brands and found some really fabulous offering at RAIN.
I mean, look at these elegant Reed Diffuser Branches that retail for R95 – BUY
Decant the RAIN diffuser perfume in a diffuser bottle, then pop the reeds in. You then dip the top end of the branches into the perfume & it subtly scents whichever room they’re placed in. It’s recommended you dip the tops of the reeds in the perfume weekly, to ensure the scent envelops the space continuously.
The Reed Diffuser Perfume in African Cucumber R169 – BUY has a cool & refreshing, almost aquatic scent. It is crisp, clean, green & slight herbaceous and the scent would work well in a bedroom, lounge, dining room or bathroom. I find the scent very up-lifting.
How pretty is this Ceramic Holder R179 – BUY. I love how simple the design is and how pretty the reeds look in it.
Next up I’ll be investing in a few scented candles from RAIN – I like the sound of this one HERE. I’ve also been a fan or the brands fragrance burners (I own two) and I LOVE the aroma of the Africa Rain Burner Oil oil.
My 4 Top Tips for Keeping your Home Smelling Fresh & Clean
Keep the bin pong at bay by putting some bicarb soda at the bottom of your bin to absorb nasty odours.
Place half a lemon in your fridge to pick up any yucky food smells – change every 3 days
Get the stink out your sink by pouring a cup of bicarb soda down the drain, followed by a cup of white vinegar. Leave for 5 minutes, then pour a full kettle of boiled water down the drain. I do this weekly.
Deodorise rugs & carpets by mixing a cup of bicarb soda with a tablespoon of ground cinnamon, sprinkle over carpets, leave for an hour, then vacuum. Omit the cinnamon on white or cream carpets & just use the bicarb)
