I was thrilled when I received a Jane Seymour Wonderset hamper to review.
It’s been YEARS since I used the brand, & I fondly recall how the Jane Seymour hairspray was a favourite of mine back in the day. Because I was totally channelling the girls in the Robert Palmer Video ‘Addicted to Love’(it was the 80’s after all) I used to gel my hair back, then spray it with the strongest hairspray I could find. I still can’t believe I managed to find a pic from back then illustrating my favourite hairstyle – see below.
This shot was taken in 1989 when I was rocking my “Addicted to Love” inspired gelled back look
I was excited to see that the Jane Seymour brand has undergone a revamp with a fresh new look and a range of new products. The new additions include Ultra Hold aerosols, a range of liquid sprays and 2 mousses.
All Jane Seymour products are enriched with Pro Vitamin B5 so they leave hair conditioned, manageable, soft, shiny and full of bounce, with a style that holds even in humid conditions. Best of all? All the formulas are non-sticky, so they keep hair perfectly controlled without excess build up or flaking.
My favourite product in the range is the Curl Control Mousse (R82.99 for a 240ml) because it defines my curls with body that lasts all day while keeping frizz to a minimum. I apply it onto damp hair – from mid-lengths to ends – but you can absolutely use this formula on the roots too. You could either let your hair air dry, or use a hairdryer with a diffuser.
If you’re wanting a more structured, sleek or defined style, try one of the three new Liquid hairsprays. They smooth back stray hairs effortlessly and give definition to curls. Available in Natural Hold with Argan Oil, Firm Hold with Avocado Oil and Ultra Hold with Almond Oil in 300ml (RSP R69.99) and 125ml (RSP R46.99) – and I LOVE that they come in a convenient size perfect for your handbag or gym bag!
I’ve been using the Firm Hold Hairspray (R49.99 for a 400ml or R38.99 for a 145ml) to set my style, but there is also the Ultra Hold option, designed for styles that need extra strong hold that can last all day, while still offering a touchable and glossy finish.
I do love an iconic brand that comes in at a very affordable price and is made in South Africa, so it’s great to be reminded that Jane Seymour is still making affordable hair products that have lasting hold, superior moisture control and leave hair soft and shiny.
