First post of the year and I have to show the LES ORNEMENTS DE CHANEL Holiday 2019 Collection some love. Launched in November last year in limited quantities, there is still stock available. The collection is inspired by Gabrielle Chanel’s love of ornaments. While mademoiselle Chanel famously pioneered a “less is more” approach to elegance, she was equally fascinated by aesthetic opulence like the deep lacquer of her now infamous Coromandel screens, or the shimmering gold leaf that decorated her apartment.

“The woman I imagine using this collection is completely CHANEL. She’s seeking timeless simplicity, but she also loves richness and glamour, modernity and grandeur.” – Lucia Pica, CHANEL’S global creative make-up and colour director.

I received three gorgeous items from the collection to try out.

Rouge Allure Le Rouge Intense in Rouge Spectaculaire (R835) is a true red colour that comes in limited edition, graphic, gold edged packaging. It feels beautifully creamy on the lips and is just the spoil of a make-up item for those who truly love a rock a red lip.

Tip: A fresh complexion means that you can be bold in your adornment. A bold red lip is made entirely modern when paired with a natural, luminous complexion.

Out of all the delightful goodies in the LES ORNEMENTS DE CHANEL collection, the ÉCLAT MAGNÉTIQUE DE CHANEL (R1110) is my favourite. It’s a highlighter that brings light sculpting to the face with a soft shine. It’s wonderfully bendable texture melts into the skin and is used to highlight the contours of the face for a gently sculpting, radiant effect. I also adore the embossed pattern which takes its inspiration from a vintage CHANEL button.

I’m big on gold and bronze shadows – especially during the summer months. The OMBRE PREMIÈRE Creamy Powder Eyeshadow in Grandeur (R665) is a metallic old gold shade that can be blended, layered, diffused or defined. I use mine over a matte khaki shade by lightly pressing some shadow onto the center of my lids to give a modern dimension to the deeper khaki hue. I just love how this shadow makes the perfect base for other shadows, making their impact even more lush and luxe. It can also be used as a highlighter and swept across small areas around the eyes or cheeks.

Last but certainly not least is my beloved scent, Les Aux De CHANEL Paris Riviera (R2070 for a 125ml). This fragrance launched last year August (if my memory serves correctly) and is a fresh, radiant floral scent that evokes the Côte d’Azur – a place Gabrielle Chanel loved very dearly. I think it’s my favourite scent because it contains my two ultimate favourite fragrance notes: Sicilian orange and Neroli. I also adore the simple, sleek bottle with its rounded shape that fits into the palm of the hand. This fragrance has great lasting power of about 6-8 hours. Expensive yes, but a truly luxurious treat that worth the spend #MustLoveChanel

You’ll find all the products mentioned above at CHANEL counters.

Chanel products are just so luxurious!

I love Chanel products, and buy them when the budget allows. Definitely going to try the perfume and the highlighter

I love this post, it deserves to be the first one of the year. Chanel, so iconic. A girl can never go wrong with a luxurious red lip, a bronzed skin and a fresh fragrance in summer.

Thanks Ayanda, so glad to hear you enjoyed the post. I love CHANEL so very much too, & you’re spot on, a girl can NEVER go wrong with a red lip, golden skin & a fresh scent!

Caryn, that scent is INCREDIBLE – you will LOVE it. It also has great staying power. The highlighter is really one of the best I’ve tried, although honestly, the Wet n’ Wild highlighter (under R200) is very, very similar, so if on a budget, try that. x

So very luxe and beautiful – one of my favourite brands!
