There’s nothing quite as chic as a crisp black & white look.
In fact, Coco Chanel once said that black and white’s beauty was “the perfect harmony,” that women “think of all colours except the absence of colour,” and that black and white had it all. I can’t help but agree with her.
A monochrome look is one of the most versatile looks as it passes effortlessly between seasons. I needed two key pieces, ideally a black shirt that I could wear all year, and a pair of white trousers that fit my shape perfectly. I knew I’d find the perfect pieces at Desray.
Desray Black Frill Top R735 ( was R1050) – BUY
I’m besotted with my gorgeous black frill top that is just perfect for this transitional weather we’re having in Cape Town. And, I see it’s on sale! The styling details are just lovely.
The front V-neck chest panel features a pretty frill that extends all the way around the back panel & the upper part of the sleeve. There are also elasticated cuffs, a slightly curved hem & more frills on the neckline, which is finished with a drawstring that can be worn open or closed.
Desray White Flared Crop Pants R1150 – BUY
Honestly, I’ve been on the hunt for the perfect pair of white trousers for some time now, and these fit all my requirements. They are cool, stylish and the perfect choice for summer.
I love that they’re slightly flared and cropped at the ankle and combine cotton & spandex for comfort. The pants have a front fastening button, 2 functional pockets, belt loops & cropped turn-up’s that sit just above the ankle. Honestly, these will work with just about any top from a simple vest to a more elegant style.
My sunnies are by Michael Kors and are almost 5 years old. They are my absolute favorite shades and I think the round shape works so well with my face shape. Every single time I wear them I get compliments.
The heels I’m wearing are also a few years old. Would you believe they are from Woolies (3 years back) and cost only R250? I love them as not only do they make a style statement, they are super comfortable.
