Two weeks back I was introduced to the new Authentic Beauty Concept.
This is a haircare range centered around the concept that beauty has no rules and I flippin’ LOVE it!
Gone are the days where hair is forced to follow ridged, old school conventions. Authentic Beauty Concept celebrates realness & honesty. The hair of today follows a new language, celebrating the loose textures of true beauty. It’s what you don’t see that makes the difference; care products creating the canvas for beautiful hair with substance to it, and styling products with a ‘no styling’ approach invisibly enhancing authentic hair. It’s about building on the natural beauty that is already there. Effortless in every way, perfectly (im)perfect touchable hair create this kind of crafted quality – reduced luxury.
Authentic Beauty Concept is a brand where nature meets science with purified ingredients powered by ultrasound decomposition and steam distillation; this is a very gentle way of extracting natural ingredients – whilst preserving their benefits. Authentic Beauty Concept products are free from silicones, sulfates, surfactants and Parabens. The products use mainly Vegan ingredients. All bottles and jars are fully recyclable.
The launch was held at the elegant Marios Company Hair in Green Point Cape Town.
Take a look at Marios beautiful space below!
Can I just say that the reclining leather washing beds at Marios make for the most comfortable hair wash EVER! Really, all salons should have these.
There are 5 ranges available within Authentic Beauty Concept:
Glow (pink packaging) is a range for colour treated hair. It contains date & cinnamon extract. It works to lock in colour and give hair brilliant shine. In Glow you’ll find a cleanser, conditioner, mask & essence.
Hydrate (blue packaging) is for dry hair. The range is enriched with mango – an antioxidant, and basil – renowned for its soothing & purifying properties. In Hydrate you’ll find a cleanser, conditioner, cleansing conditioner, spray conditioner, mask, lotion & Essence.
Replenish (yellow packaging) is especially created for damaged hair. This replenishing range contains extracts of maple & pecan that restores shine while nourishing the hair. In Replenish you’ll find a cleanser, conditioner, spray conditioner, mask, essence and a balm.
Amplify (green packaging) is for fine hair and contains a green tea extract. In Amplify you’ll find a cleanser, conditioner & spray conditioner.
A deep cleansing shampoo that all hair types can use is also available. It has rice extract that helps absorb grease and impurities from the hair & scalp. If you use styling products regularly, you should wash your hair with a cleansing shampoo at least one a week to get rid of any products build up.
There is a comprehensive range of styling products within the Authentic Beauty Concept range that includes: a primer, heat protectant, Mousse, shaping cream, gritty wax paste, solid pomade, dry shampoo and two hairsprays.
Pricing is not too extreme with cleansers (shampoo) retailing for R380, conditioners for R410 and treatment masks for R500. Most of the styling products cost R410 with the exception of the shaping cream, hairsprays & heat protectors which all retail for R425.
My stylist used the Glow Cleanser (R380) & Conditioner (R410) on my hair. The Glow Cleanser moisturises and seals the cuticle to preserve coloured hair, while the conditioner moisturises, detangles and leaves the hair soft & shiny.
After washing & conditioning, we decided I’d wear my hair straight. My stylist applied some of the Authentic Beauty Concept Flawless Primer (R410) to my hair as it offers heat protection & light conditioning.
We finished off my look with a spray of the Glow Touch (R410) to give my hair a bit of natural looking shine.
I loved the way my hair looked and felt after using products from the Authentic Beauty Concept range.
