A few weeks back I attended an Acqua di Parma launch at the beautiful Table Bay Hotel in Cape Town. While I’m quite familiar with the Acqua di Parma brand and its history – I did a post earlier this year that you can read HERE – it was great to gain even more insight into the various ranges available.

The Blu Mediterraneo line tell a story of a sun-soaked summer in the Italian countryside, with the scents being are all about the golden sun and authentic, Italian ingredients.

My favourite is the Acqua di Parma Blu Mediterrano Bergamotto di Calabria (R1,995 – BUY)

This woody, aromatic scent is unisex, and I love it’s sharp, green and clean vibe. Top notes include sparkling bergamot & citron; middle notes are sharp ginger, cedar and flowers. The base notes are sexy musk and benzoin.

The Acqua di Parma Colonia Essenza Eau de Cologne (R2,515 – BUY) is a fresh, citrus based woody scent for men, but I think woman can absolutely wear it too. Top notes include bright and sunny lemon, orange, Bergamot, Mandarin, grapefruit and neroli. The green and herbaceous heart notes of rosemary & clove are tempered with florals like Lily of the Valley, Jasmine and rose. The base notes include Vetiver, Patchouli, White Musk and amber.

The classy Table Bay Hotel was the perfect venue for this launch. The beautiful wood paneling in the drawing room, the marble floor tiles and plush upholstery made me feel like I was in an Italian Villa. We sipped on Champaign and enjoyed a delish breakfast. There were also carrot & ginger & beetroot shooters served in test tubes – so cool.

I opted to wear my Desray Green & Red Wedge dress that has the coolest animal print, round neck, wide ¾ sleeves and a hemline that sits just above the knee. It’s on sale, marked down 70% and is only R525 – BUY

I was thrilled, THRILLED I tell you, to receive a bottle of the iconic Acqua di Parma Colonia (R2,515 BUY) with my name engraved on it!

Acqua di Parma Colonia is a unisex fragrance with top notes of fresh lemon, sweet orange and Calabrian Bergamot. The heart notes are herbaceous and floral and include lavender, Bulgarian Rose, Verbena and rosemary. The dry down is elegant, with the sensual notes of Vetiver, Sandalwood and patchouli linger on the skin.

Colonia just about sums up everything I look for in a scent: fresh, sparkling, luminous, citrus with a serious side of sexy. Unfortunately, both my husband and 15-year-old daughter love it too, so I can’t display it on my dresser – rather I have to hide it in my fragrance cupboard #LOL

For me, Acqua di Parma Colonia is a symbol of style and discreet sophistication. If you’re on the hunt for a signature scent, I bet you’ll find something within the collection.

You’ll find the Acqua di Parma collection at selected Foschini Beauty outlets.

Lovely pics, Candice-Lee. There’s so much variety to enjoy from this brand. Good idea to hide the Colonia. It’s one of those fragrances to smell again and again, and before you know it, it’s gone.
