Clarins recently sent me some new and very innovative eye makeup essentials to play around with. All are super simple to use, so no matter whether you’re a makeup pro or beginner, you’ll be able to create some really eye-catching looks.

I’ve always loved Clarins’ mascaras (really, they make some of the best), so couldn’t wait to try this one. And I wasn’t disappointed! The new Wonder Perfect Mascara 4D (R360) gives lashes volume, extreme length, curl and definition. There’s also a Lash Boosting Complex in the formula that ensures lashes are cared for.

I received two eyeshadows to try, one a matte cream and the other a dazzling sparkle.

The Satin Shadow in Green Mile (R355) is a cream formula that’s easy to apply with finger tips or a brush (I prefer using my fingers). I apply it onto the lower lid, stopping at the crease and find that because of its bold colour, you really don’t need anything else (other than two coats of mascara, of course).

Unfortunately, you can hardly see the Satin Shadow in the image above, because the moment I pressed the Sparkle Shadow in Lagoon Blue (R355) over it, my eyes were all sparkle. I actually love the way it looks, but think this look is better left for evenings as it’s quite full on.

I finished the eye look off by lining my lower lash line with the Waterproof Eye Pencil in Fig (R335) – a purple shade which works so well with my green eyes. It has a precision tip that allows you to get right into the lash line, and because it’s waterproof, it stays put on the waterline. It’s also not too difficult to blend (sometimes waterproof formulas can be) as long as you do this immediately after application, as the product dries quite quickly. And once it’s on, it’s one – for a good 8 hours. It’s best to remove it with a good bi-phase eye makeup remover or balm.

I completed the look using Clarins products from my rather vast stash (these are not new launches). On my lips I’m wearing the Jolie Rouge Velvet in Sandy Pink (R365). I like its matte finish that also, somehow, manages to be super nourishing. It’s light & creamy and glides on beautifully.

The foundation I used is an old favourite, namely the Extra Firming Foundation SPF 15 (R515). This anti-aging liquid foundation smoothes, firms and protects the skin while giving it a gorgeous glow. It has a wonderful satin finish and doesn’t settle into fine lines. It’s a beautiful formula.

Purchase Clarins products at their counters in Edgars, Woolworths & Truworths. You can also buy online at www.clarins.co.za

A great informative and detailed review especially for someone like me who still needs to learn alot about new make up trends. Love it 💕 thank you ❤️

Wow, the eye colours suit you so much, Cand. Keen to try the new 4D mascara.

Thanks Anna. I’m loving both eye shadows, especially the sparkle. The 4D mascara is lovely and I like that it also conditions while giving lashes length, curl & volume. I’ve always maintained Clarins make some of the best high end mascaras on the market.

Thanks Viasha, glad you enjoyed the post. Best thing about these eye shadows is that you can apply them with your fingertips, making application SO easy.

Lovely pics, Candice-Lee. These colours look great on you.

Thanks Rich, purple & blue are always a winner on green (or brown) eyes. Hope you’re so well <3
