Almay is getting it so right with their makeup lately. From their fantastic Best Blend Forever foundation & Goddess Gloss which launched last year, to their cute-as-pie #Lipvibes collection launched a few months back (HERE).
I got VERY excited when the new Velvet Foil Cream Shadow Collection landed on my desk last week. This is a collection of 12 intensely hued cream metallic eye shadows that deliver real statement colour coupled with dazzling shimmer.
In this collection you’ll find everything from light chromatic shades to glimmering jewel tones. The formula is highly pigmented and lasts for up to 24 hours while being crease, smudge and fade proof.
One can apply this cream shadow with fingers or an eye shadow brush, but personally, I think the application is easier with fingers as the colour glides beautifully over the lids. The shadows can be worn individually or combined for a more dramatic effect. Because of these shadows long-wearing capabilities, you need to remove them with a heavy-duty eye make-up remover or balm cleanser.
In this picture, I’m wearing Cupid Glaze on my lower lids. I love the subtle shimmer of this cream shadow and the fact that it doesn’t crease or fade. My brows are looking super fresh thanks to the Almay Brow Styler (Dark Chocolate) & Brow Pencil.
With their rich, foil-like, three-dimensional metallic eye colours, the Velvet Foil Cream Shadow collection is a must-have for those who love playing up their eyes. The Almay Velvet Foil Cream Shadows retail for R109.95 per shadow.
I was also sent some spectacular brow products to try out.
The Almay Brow Styler (R139.95) works to condition the brows with a special blend of ingredients including Marula Oil to ensure fuller, softer looking brows that never look forced or fake. The new Slimmy Brush was specially created to provide precise application giving brows a polished, but still natural look. It’s available in Light Brown, Medium Brown, Dark Brown & Clear.
To achieve the perfect brows, I love the Almay Brow Pencil (R199)
This 3-in-1 angled eyebrow pencil is slanted for two very important reasons: the pointed tip defines the edges of the brows, while the flat edge fills in sparse areas. I like that the colour is buildable and find the creamy formula blends easily. There is also a spoolie brush at the one end that allows you to blend and soften the colour as you sweep it through your brows.
All Almay products are fragrance free, hypoallergenic and ophthalmologist tested and are available to purchase at selected Dischem stores nationwide.
