The newly launched YSL Black Opium Eau De Parfum Intense represents a bold, independent, and seductive woman, perfectly portrayed by Zoë Kravitz – the new face of the campaign. She is drawn to the possibility and energy the night brings.

The scent has top notes of unusual blue absinthe – banned in some countries for its legendary hallucinatory powers – and sweet blue boysenberries. Together, these two ingredients make for an intoxicating and unusual top note that’s intriguing.

The heart notes contain jasmine sambac absolute, which fuses with orange blossom giving the scent a seductive, sensual, warm exotic accord. Notes of licorice, sandalwood and vanilla make for a creamy and rich base that lingers beautifully on the skin.

The blue bottle is illuminated from the inside with the blue liquid of the perfume. YSL Black Opium Eau De Parfum Intense retails for R1130 for a 30ml; R1670 for a 50ml and R2200 for a 100ml and is available at stores nationwide.

A few months back, Blistex launched a Conditioning Lip Serum (120) that works to restore and maintain super hydrated and conditioned lips. The serum comes with a dose control pump dispenser that releases just the right amount of concentrated serum for optimal effectiveness. The formula contains moisturising, nutrient-rich olive and avocado oils, Vitamin E and Omega-3 fatty acids. Just a drop is all that’s needed for soft, healthy lips.

The cutie-pie foot shaped quartz above is referred to as a Gua sha board.

I was sent this one last year from Ecologic Skincare, and only started using it about 2 months ago. To say I’m obsessed is an understatement!

A Gua sha is a traditional Chinese Medicine practice meaning ‘to scrape’ while sha translates to ‘bruises’. The scraping is the act of applying firm pressure in a rhythmic, sweeping motion down the muscles or along the energy meridians of the body.
The bruises refers to the reddening of the skin that appears after Gua sha therapy.
Facial Gua sha (which is what I’ve been doing) is done with a much lighter touch than that performed on the body.

A low-level pink ‘flush’ appears, but quickly disappear after treatment. This can vary from person to person, but the flush is deeply satisfying and shows that one has successfully drawn circulation up into the skin under the epidermis.
Scraping the skin causes it to become stimulated, ensuring stagnant lymph and toxins are cleared out of the system. Healthier skin cells can be created once these toxins are flushed. Gua Sha is not only a massage technique, but also a detoxification technique.

You can purchase a quartz Gua sha from ecologicalskincare.co.za for R230 HERE

Aside from the super cool, eye-catching bold green packaging, the Missha Near Skin PH Balancing Cleansing Foam (R240) from Butterkupbeauty.co.za (BUY)  is one of the nicest cleansing foams I’ve tried in a while.

This K-Beauty is perfect for all skin types but is especially beneficial for sensitive and dry skin types. It contains amino acids to moisturise while cleaning, and with its pH level of 5, it keeps the skin healthy. There is no tight, taught feeling skin after using this gentle cleanser that also foams really nicely. I use it with my Foreo Luna mini 2 (R1800) available HERE on Dermastore.co.za

Who doesn’t love the iconic Elizabeth Arden Eight Hour Cream? Honestly, I’m NEVER without a tube. It’s just the beauty to instantly relieve dry or chapped skin, minor skin irritations, sunburn, windburn and scrapes. I also use mine to condition cuticles, and to smooth any flyaway and to moisturise dry ends. Really, it is THE ultimate multi-tasking beauty.

To celebrate this cult classic’s 88th anniversary, Elizabeth Arden collaborated with #Lovewall muralist James Goldcrown, best known for his graffiti gospel of hope and positivity that he spreads through his colourful, heart-filled art.

You can now find Goldcrown’s Insta-famous #Lovewall hearts adorning the limited edition Eight Hour Cream Skin Protectant Love Heals (R299 for a tube) and on the Eight Hour Cream Lip Protectant Stick SPF15 Love heals (R235). This is a limited-edition collection that launched in October last year, so if you’re keen on a tube, go get one ASAP – don’t think there are many left.

Which of the above beauties are you most keen to try? Let me know if the comments section below – I love hearing from you.
