I’ve been diligent about exercising for the past 8 months, and try my very best to do at least 3 classes a week.
I do Pilates on Tuesday, HIIT on Wednesday & Barre class on Thursday. Recently, I’ve also started power walking twice a week. Working out has definitely made a difference to the way I feel – I have more energy, sleep better & am far more motivated to eat a healthy diet.
However, because I’m close on 45 years old (and only started exercising two years ago), It’s becomming more of a challenge to keep my weight in check. Even though I workout, I still have those wobbly bits and cellulite aplenty. Now, I know most women have this issue – and really, if our bodies feel strong & healthy, why should some orange peel skin bother us? Truth be told, it doesn’t really bother me to the point where I’m losing sleep, but I would like to find a slimming product that can make a difference.
I also want to mention that I’ve been a beauty writer for 15 years & have tried A LOT of slimming and / or cellulite products.
Do they work?
This is tricky to answer because, in my opinion, they really only make a difference to tone & texture while you use them. And, I think this improvement is really down to the massaging action.
When Elancyl asked me if I’d be keen to try a few of their products over a 28 day period and report back, I couldn’t wait. Aside from the fact that I view Elancyl as a true heritage brand (my late mother was a big fan of her green Elancyl massage tool), I LOVE French pharmacy brands because the products offer great value & efficacy.
Elancyl asked me to take before & after pic’s. Now, I’m NOT thrilled about showing my flabby 45-year-old ass & upper thighs to you, but, for the sake of investigative beauty journalism, here goes!
Also the below is NOT retouched in any way. The only thing I did was remove a few stray koek hairs creeping out my panty because really, who wants to see those? #SorryNotSorry #IReallyNeedAWax
Below are the products I’m in the throes of testing (have been for about two & a half weeks now)
Elancyl Slim Massage Device & Gel Set (R495) and Slim Massage Refill Gel (R195)
Its effectiveness lies in the massage method that was developed in collaboration with a physiotherapist as a natural extension of the hand. The combined action of the rollers, which grip and roll the skin simultaneously while maintaining the ideal pressure results in more toned skin and less visible cellulite. Used in conjunction with the Anti-Cellulite Concentrate Gel (which smells AMAZING), it reduces the appearance of cellulite, assists with micro-circulation and detoxification and refines the silhouette.
Elancyl Energizing Foaming Scrub (R165)
The newly launched Energizing Foaming Scrub both beautifies and preps the skin. The new exfoliating micro-particles are plant-based and derived from apricot kernel powder for effective exfoliation. It works to soften and smooth the skin, making it more receptive to the action of our slimming product. I do enjoy using this scrub and like that it foams too. It has ivy extract that helps with toning and a very invigorating scent. It’s advisable to use it two to three times a week.
Elancyl Slim Design Flat Stomach (R395)
My tummy is my problem area as it’s here that I tend to put on weight (may have a little something to do with the fact that I LOVE carbs and wine…). Do I really think there’s a product on the market that will slim my tummy? NO, but I’m up for trying this one as again, one uses a special massage method to apply the formula – and I think that’s what can assist in redefining the area. The key ingredient is PCA which is an acid that firms and tightens thanks to its retracting effect on the dermal matrix. Its action comes from the ingredients ability to reorganize the collagen fibers in the skin. There’s also caffeine (stimulates blood flow) and Xanthoxylin (natural ingredient from the Sichuan pepper) that prevents cellulite from recurring. I’ve been applying 2 pumps to the stomach area every morning using the recommended massage technique.
Elancyl Slim Design Stubborn Cellulite (R395)
This product works to reduce the appearance of stubborn cellulite & works for 24 hours. It has a caffeine complex that stimulates circulation, contains Salacia that de-hardens, Ivy for firming and Phloridzin to drain pockets of fat. I like that it’s non-sticky and also has a slight light-reflecting quality that has a visual smoothing effect.
Elancyl Firming Body Cream (R290)
I’ve actually bought this product before & I really like it. You apply it daily (kind of as a maintenance product) for firm, nourished skin. I adore the texture as it’s light and non-sticky and gives the skin a velvety feel. It contains Ivy extract to firm, Safflower Oil to nourish and good old Vitamin C to help restructure the skin. As I said above, this is one of the nicest slimming maintenance products and is well priced considering just how fabulous it is.
I’ll be doing a follow up post at the end of the month (after 28 days of using all the products) & will let you know my honest opinion. I have to say, I’m REALLY impressed with everything thus far. I’ll also be posting ‘After’ pic’s (EEEK) so you guys will be able to see if there’s any improvement.
