Two weeks ago, I asked the following question on my social media platforms:
“Are you 35 years or older? If yes, what’s your most pressing skin concern?
I had over 180+ responses, most complaining of lines & wrinkles associated with dryness, pigmentation, uneven skin tone (age spots) & a lack of firmness.
It was almost divine beauty synchronicity at play when a week later, I received the new NIVEA Hyaluron Cellular Filler Elasticity Range to try. This is the NIVEA brands most premium and advanced anti-age range that works to visibly reduce deep wrinkles & hydrate, while helping to firm the skin.
Contained in all the products is a cell-activating formula made up of collagen, Hyaluron & an elastin booster that works to stimulate the skin’s own cells to activate the synthesis processes of the same structures within the skin.
Sounds too good to be true? The following results have been scientifically proven in cell culture experiments after continued use of the NIVEA Hyaluron Cellular Filler Elasticity formula: The active ingredients facilitate the skin to create its own Collagen, showing a more than 20% increase. The skin’s own Hyaluron level increases by almost 30% and the skin’s own elastin supply increases by + 64 %.
So, what are the 4 skin issues related to mature skin? It’s no surprise that deep wrinkles, loss of skin firmness and elasticity, coupled with noticeable age spots are among the top problems mature women complain about in relation to ageing.
What causes skin ageing?
Scientists have researched the causes of skin ageing and identified the main culprit to be a natural decline in production of these 3 things:
- Hyaluronic Acid ensures our skin holds moisture and volume in the epidermis.
- Collagen is the protein that gives the dermis its taut structure.
- Elastin is responsible for bounce in the skin. Elastin fibres are embedded in the skin cells and are responsible for the skin’s elasticity, enabling tissue to “bounce back” to its original shape after being stretched or contracted. Elastin works together with Collagen to give skin strength, firmness and shape.
It was with the above in mind that NIVEA developed the Hyaluron Cellular Filler Elasticity range.
NIVEA Hyaluron Cellular Filler Elasticity Day Cream SPF 15+ (R269.99)
This super nourishing formula does a great job of keeping the skin hydrated, while protecting it from UVA & UVB rays with an SPF 15. The cream has a slight iridescence to it that that gives the complexion a radiant glow. It also works well under makeup & doesn’t pill.
NIVEA Hyaluron Cellular Filler Elasticity Night Cream (R269.99)
The velvety, rich texture of this night cream literally melts into the skin keeping it hydrated. I find after the serum, I only need a small amount of this cream.
NIVEA Hyaluron Cellular Filler Elasticity Anti-Spot Treatment Serum (R289.99)
This serum claims to treat existing age spots in just four weeks (I can’t attest to this just yet as I’m only on week two of trying the range). The formula contains a highly effective melanin inhibitor, specifically developed to slow down the skin cell’s production of melanin, reducing the appearance of existing age spots. Results should become visible after 4 weeks of continuous usage, with further visible improvement after 12 weeks of regular usage. I’m super excited to see the results after the four week time frame & will update this post then.
For a serum, the formula is quite nourishing and has a creamy consistency. I apply two small pumps both morning and evening to clean skin before applying the NIVEA Hyaluron Cellular Filler Elasticity day or night cream.
NIVEA Hyaluron Cellular Filler Elasticity Bi-phase Nourishing Oil Elixir (R289.99)
This was the one product in the range I was most excited to try!
It’s perfect for those with dry skin and works to give the skin extra nourishment. Bi-phase means it has a dual effect: The highly-concentrated water component means skin is flooded with moisture – and a triple-oil complex ensures that skin is deeply nourished. This innovative formula is ideal for reducing wrinkles, as well as for strengthening, plumping-out and moisturising skin. The luxurious texture is weightless and immediately absorbed. To use, ensure you shake well (to combine the two phases) and apply on a cleansed face and décolletage, massaging into the skin before applying moisturiser. Depending on how parched your skin feels, you can use it day and night, or once a day.
If you’re on the lookout for a lovely, well priced yet luxurious skincare range for mature skins, the NIVEA Hyaluron Cellular Filler Elasticity range is a really great option.
NIVEA is available in leading supermarkets, Clicks & Dischem stores and selected pharmacies.
