Last week I was lucky enough to attend the exclusive media preview of the Poetry AW19 collection.
There are some gorgeous pieces that I know you’ll love and want to include in your wardrobe. The shoes, in particular, are exceptional this season, and I can’t wait to share my favourites with you.
My favourite look has to be this pink corduroy suit. Sadly, I only have a price for the jacket thus far (R1199). I’d pair this suit with a plain white shirt and Converse sneakers to give it a cool streetwear vibe. One could also pair the jacket with grey or blue denim jeans and a white t-shirt.
There was some beautiful knitwear in cabled, textured and colour-blocked styles.
The black & white skirt below (R799) has a tight knit and I can see it’s going to sit just beautifully on the body. I think it works well with this black Mohair knit with a burnt sienna pattern (R899)
The collection places a big focus on light, trans-seasonal layers that pair with luxury knitwear pieces, winter coats and jackets.
Note the cute polka dots (which I see are trending big time this winter) on the denims.
The upcoming season’s key hues are underpinned by forest greens and ochre yellows that add vibrancy to the overall winter palette. Dresses dominate once again with tiered hems, maxi lengths and high necklines.
I was excited to see a great selection of animal prints on some very cool shoe styles.
I adore the printed flats with their ribbon that ties around the ankle (R1099). I mean, how gorgeous? And, I’m definitely getting a pair of the leopard print mules! They are just the right combo of elegant edgy that I love. The shape of the heel is also bang on trend.
The seasonal bag collection builds on staple silhouettes that have been updated with new colours, finishes and hardware trims.
There’s a strong focus on resin earrings and I like the pair with their tortoise shell print.
On the neckwear side, longer pendant-style necklaces are making a comeback. I spotted a few precious stones like tiger’s eye, amber, rose quartz and jade in quite a few of the accessories this season.
The collection is slowly trickling into stores, but everything should be available by April in both stores & online at www.poetrystores.co.za
