A few weeks ago, I received an exciting Mamonde press drop from local K-Beauty online store ButterKup Beauty.
Mamonde is a leading skincare line in Asia and is now available worldwide. The products are inspired by the actual Mamonde Garden just outside Seoul, South Korea. The products in the line are infused with floral essences like Damask Rose for its soothing properties, hibiscus extract for moisture and narcissus for its skin replenishing benefits. I was also very happy to learn that no animal products are used in the Mamonde formulations, so they can be used by Vegans.
I received three products to try from the range; an oil to foam cleanser, a gel-cream moisturiser and a toner.
Rose Water Gel Cream R360 (BUY)
The texture of this moisturiser is beyond sublime! Essentially a gel cream, it’s wonderfully soothing and injects long lasting moisture into the skin. Sometimes gel formulas can be a tad tacky, not so with this beauty – it absorbs beautifully leaving the skin soft and smooth. It reminds me a bit of Clinique’s Moisture Surge, but honestly, I think this particular formula is better (and its far better value for money at R360 for a 50ml). It’s also suitable for all skin types. Because the formula uses 68% rose water extracted from hand-picked damask roses (these are the most fragrant in the world), it is very fragranced. But rest assured, it’s not synthetic fragrance (which causes majority of skin sensitivity), but rather a natural scent from the distilled rose water.
Petal Spa Oil to Foam R340 (BUY)
I was very excited to try this oil to foam cleanser as I hadn’t ever used one before. And can I just say that I’m OBSESSED with it! You apply it to dry skin and the oil dissolves makeup (even heavy duty, waterproof eye make-up), sunscreen and any dirt. You then add water and the oil turns into a creamy foam. I found it super effective at removing makeup and loved the fact that it didn’t leave my skin feeling tight or dry. It’s great for all skin types and smells divine.
Rose Water Toner R370 (BUY)
I have to be upfront here and mention that toners really aren’t my thing (unless they have exfoliating benefits). However, this one is just so very lovely. Aside from its heavenly smell, it boosts the skin with moisture while performing the regular tasks a toner does like balancing the skin’s PH. Again, this product is free from any animal ingredients, so can be used by Vegan’s.
You could also decant this toner into a spray bottle and use it as a refreshing mist.
Skincare Benefits of Rose
The Mamonde skincare range uses rose water & petals from organic Damask Roses. It’s the Damask rose that is renowned for its incredible scent. However, aside from the sublime smell, it also has many skincare benefits. Damask rose can tighten pores, purify and sooth the skin. It also has anti-inflammatory properties and is excellent at soothing skin redness or any irritation. A number of highly effective antioxidants are found in rose water, making it excellent at protecting the skin against cell damage.
