I had been wanting a beautiful crystal facial roller since I saw Chereen from For The Beauty of It raving about hers.
When my birthday rolled around in June and hubby asked what he could get me (two days day before my birthday, obvs!) I told him that all I REALLY wanted was a Jade roller from Ecologic Skincare. And, I just wanna give a shout out to the brand who managed to arrange for my roller to get to me on my actual birthday. Hubby tells me there was some furious behind-the-scenes negotiations, calls & texts happening that I knew nothing about.
For those not sure what the hell this tool is and how it works, here’s a little overview:
Jade (also available in Rose Quartz) rollers work to decrease puffiness and under eye circles, purge toxins and are an excellent tool for lymphatic drainage on the face. They also improve circulation while relaxing areas of tension.
I started using it the day it arrived, and it’s become a much loved tool that is included every morning in my beauty routine. I now want a rose quartz one too (I mean, who needs two facial rollers? Clearly I do! #BeautyAddict)
How to use a Jade Roller
Use the larger stone on cheeks, forehead and the jaw and use the smaller stone for the eye area and around the mouth. To use simply apply gentle pressure while rolling the tool from the centre of the face in an upward and outward motion. Roll from the centre of the face towards the hairline, always in one direction. On the neck, roll from the jawline down towards the collar bone.
You can use a Jade roller on its own, or with a serum, moisturiser or facial oil to increase product absorption. Simply use your roller in place of fingertips to gently massage the product into the skin.
I like using mine with my favourite facial oil of the moment, the L’Occitane Immortelle Divine Youth Oil (R1590) buy HERE.
This multi-usage oil works to nourish and firm the skin, giving it a lovely glow while smoothing wrinkles. The Immortelle essential oil (read more about it HERE) has twice the anti-oxidant power of Vitamin E, so packs a powerful anti-ageing punch.
Place your roller in a bowl of ice water for a minute before using. The cool sensation coupled with the massage action of the roller will tighten pores, reduce puffiness and boost circulation.
Apply your face mask of choice to your skin. When it starts drying, spray a toner or water mist (I use my Avène Eau Thermale Thermal Spring Water) over the mask to make it sticky. Use your roller all over the moistened mask. This method is ideal to improve absorption, purge toxins and boost the treatment action of your mask. I use mine with my beloved Sisley Black Rose Cream Mask that I’ve blogged about HERE.
Caring for your Jade roller
Carefully wipe your roller after use with a clean cloth and store in a dry place. After using your roller with products (like a mask or facial oil), wash it with warm, soapy water and wipe dry with a clean cloth.
The Jade comes in this pretty cotton pouch that keeps it clean and dirt free when not being used.
You can purchase a Jade or Rose Quartz facial roller (R380 EACH) online from Ecologic Skincare HERE
Ecologic Skincare also have some lovely, all natural and Vegan beauty products available on their site. I’m very keen to try the Harvest Moon Facial Tea (HERE) and the Colloidal Silver Top2Toe Wash (HERE)
