One of my favourite anti-ageing ranges has had an update! The NIVEA Cellular Anti-Age range has been transformed into the NIVEA Hyaluron Cellular Filler Range and is proven to stimulate skin cells to produce their own Hyaluronic Acid and Collagen.
What is Hyaluronic Acid and why does my skin need it?
Hyaluronic Acid is a molecule that occurs naturally in many parts of our body and helps to increase the tissues’ ability to bind water. At a young age, the human body is very rich in natural Hyaluronic Acid as it is still able to replenish it daily – so young people have firm, well-hydrated skin. As we grow older, we gradually lose the ability to produce enough Hyaluronic Acid, which leads to a loss of water in the skin, resulting in a loss of volume, as well as fine lines and wrinkles.
“Many anti-age creams provide the skin with an instant, visible effect. However, they often only work superficially without a lasting effect. NIVEA Hyaluron Cellular Filler is the first anti-age performance range that helps the skin to help itself by stimulating the skin cells to produce their own Hyaluronic Acid and Collagen, as tests on an in vitro reconstructed skin model have shown. The skin was treated with Cellular active ingredients, and compared to untreated skin, which proved that it works. And this is great, as your own Hyaluron is the best,” comments Dr. Svenja Möllgaard, Lab Manager Formula-Development NIVEA Face Care, Research & Development, Beiersdorf AG when asked to explain why NIVEA Hyaluron Cellular Filler is so unique and effective.
Hyaluronic Acid is the key ingredient in the NIVEA Hyaluron Cellular Filler range. It stimulates the skin cells to produce their own hyaluronic acid and collagen. But how, you may wonder? If you’re into skincare and ingredients like I am, you’ll know that Hyaluronic Acid is a very large molecule that can’t be absorbed by the skin. The Hyaluronic Acid used in the NIVEA Hyaluron Cellular Filler range is a concentrated short-chain variant that is able to penetrate the skin, where it works to plump the skin. It’s these moisturising molecules that help make the skin look smoother and fuller. After about four weeks of use, a clear improvement in the skin’s firmness should be visible, and wrinkles should look more filled in (or plumped out).
As a rule of thumb, the more moisturised the skin, the less lined and plumper it will look.
The NIVEA Hyaluron Cellular Filler range also includes a Magnolia Extract that helps prevent the loss of skin elasticity, reduce any redness and repair fine lines – which lead to deeper wrinkles. In addition, it helps to increase the skin cell’s resistance to external stresses and inflammation.
If you’re a fan of the NIVEA Creme that comes in the iconic blue tin / tub, you’ll be familiar with the product’s unmistakable scent. I was beyond thrilled to learn (smell, actually) that this subtle, comforting scent has now been added to the NIVEA Hyaluron Cellular Filler range.
NIVEA Hyaluron Cellular Filler Day Cream SPF 15 (R249.99)
I love the way this day cream melts into my skin and is quickly absorbed. It visibly smooths lines and leaves skin immediately softer and intensely moisturized – without a trace of greasy residue. Make up is also a dream to apply after you’ve used this day cream (bonus!) The SPF 15 UVB+UVA protection helps to protect against UV-induced photo-aging, cell damage and age spots.
NIVEA Hyaluron Cellular Filler Serum (R249.99)
This incredibly intense concentrated treatment absorbs very quickly. It spreads really well so only a small amount is needed. In addition to boosting moisture, this serum also visibly refines the skin and leaves it feeling smooth and silky. Use it morning and evening before the day and night creams (I find 2 to 3 pumps is all that’s needed for face and neck).
NIVEA Hyaluron Cellular Filler Night Cream (R249.99)
I’m really enjoying this intensely nourishing formula with its sensorial texture which leaves skin looking healthy, plumped and nourished. The cream works overnight to rejuvenate skin while it’s in repair mode, ensuring you wakes up to a more youthful looking skin.
NIVEA Hyaluron Cellular Filler Eye Cream (R249.99)
This lightweight, nourishing cream is absorbed instantly and visibly reduces fine lines while replenishing the skin around the eyes with intense moisture. The formula is ophthalmologically approved so is suitable for those with sensitive eyes (like me). Remember, eye creams need only be applied to the orbital bones as the formula will travel up and around the eye area. It’s when you apply eye creams too close to the eyes that you struggle with redness, puffiness and product seepage into the eyes (not fun!)
The NIVEA Hyaluron Cellular Filler range works best when used together as a skin care regime as each product has its own unique role to play for firmer, younger looking skin. All products have skin compatibility and are dermatologically approved.
I know many of you are wondering at what age should I be using an anti-ageing skincare line? My answer is always the same; start using an anti-ageing range when you feel your skin needs it.
I asked NIVEA to provide some clarity on this pertaining to their various ranges:
The NIVEA Q10 range is for women trying to slow / prevent ageing and can be used by women ages 35-45 years old.
The NVEA Hyaluron Cellular Filler range is perfect for women who have visible signs of ageing, but still aspire to look beautiful for their age. This range can be used by women ages 33-55 years (and even older)
I have one NIVEA Hyaluron Filler hamper valued at R1000 up for grabs containing all four products.
