Filorga is one of the high-end French brands I absolutely adore. I love a product that lives up to its claims, and all of Filorga’s offerings certainly do just that.
The Filorga brand was founded in 1978 by a French doctor of aesthetic medicine who also happened to be a cellular biologist. He is credited with developing hyaluronic acid-based injectables products, and, if my memory serves correctly, Filorga was one of the first brands to offer gentle Glycolic peels in-salon.
Today I’m giving you the low down of three of my current favourite products from the brand, and an opportunity for one reader to win them (see end of post for details).
First up is the brand new Filorga Oxygen-Peel Re-Oxygenating Micro-Peeling Lotion (R520 for a 150ml).
Essentially this is a daily chemical peel solution that gently resurfaces (exfoliates), allowing for a smoother, more radiant skin.
The formula contains a skin-loving cocktail of six micro peeling agents, namely: Glycolic acid (wrinkle reducer), Phytic acid (dark spot remover), Citric acid (evens complexion), Salicylic acid (blitzes spots & reduces pore size), Mandelic acid (boosts radiance) and Gluconolactone (resurfaces / exfoliates)
Also included is a revitalising anti-aging combination of pure Hyaluronic acid that boosts skin hydration for an intense plumping action, and NCTF – Filorga’s special cocktail of vitamins, minerals, amino acids, co-enzymes and antioxidants that regenerate and revitalize the skin.
Oxygen Peel should be used every evening after cleansing (prior to applying serum or moisturiser) using a cotton pad. Ensure you avoid the eye contour.
Next up is the Filorga Oil-Absolute Ultimate Anti-Ageing Serum 6-in-1 Radiance Boost Formula (R1970 for a 30ml).
This super luxe, six-in-one oil serum re-activates exhausted skin while correcting typical signs of ageing like wrinkles, lack of firmness, radiance and texture.
This anti-ageing elixir has been formulated to provide three main actions:
- Skin nutrition
- Intensive cellular awakening and
- Absolute anti-ageing correction
The formula contains the following oils, actives and extracts:
- Smoothing Buruti oil which has powerful antioxidant properties, helping the skin to protect itself against the formation of wrinkles.
- Camellia oil to boost elasticity and skin firmness.
- Jojoba oil contains anti-inflammatory and anti-UV properties, which help to combat the appearance of dark spots.
- Apricot oil is rich in essential fatty acids as well as concentrated Vitamin E and A, which help provide brightness and radiance to lifeless skin.
- Amber extract stimulates the production of tensotrophin, a natural polypeptide that controls skin ageing. This acts on both the dermis and epidermis to smooth wrinkles and firm the skin. Amber also has an excellent ability to boost the body’s resistance to oxidative stress and fatigue.
- Polyphenols to boost the skin cells’ ability to defend themselves against external and internal aggression that results in skin burnout.
- A regenerating Hexapeptide that stimulates epidermal stem cell reprogramming, enabling the skin to self-regenerate, resulting in a powerful rejuvenating effect.
- Tocopherol and Sesamin (from sesame seeds) provide a filler-like action, providing in-depth correction of wrinkles and a redefined, smoother appearance.
- A plant-based active ingredient reactivates the synthesis of young proteins within the fibroblasts to help re-densify the dermis for improved firmness.
- A plant extract from hop powder decreases and controls genetic pigmentation and the transfer of melanosomes, which are responsible for the appearance of dark spots on the skin.
- Filorga’s patented NCTF polyrevitalising complex contains more than 50 anti-ageing active ingredients which restore the balance of the cellular ecosystem within the dermis, helping to boost radiance in dull complexions.
To use, massage two to three drops of Oil-Absolute into the skin morning and evening after cleansing, before applying moisturiser. This serum oil can be used on all skin types, but is especially beneficial for women with dull skin suffering from tiredness and exhaustion (hello ME!)
Last up is probably my favourite Filorga product of them all: the brilliant Optim-Eyes Express Anti-Fatigue Eye Patch (R670 a box – eight patches included).
This is one of the most effective 10-minute treatments for the eyes that I’ve tried lately.
These patches tackle dark circles with a yeast extract that restructures the capillary network and stimulates microcirculation to reduce dark circles. Also included is a complex of witch hazel that soothes and calms the eye area, as well as a floral cornflower water to assist with drainage, thereby reducing under eye bags. Black carrageenan gel smoothes and hydrates the eye area, giving it a rested, visibly firmer look.
Optim-Eyes Patch has a gel-film texture that allows it to perfectly follow the contour of the eye. This deep treatment can be used once or twice a week, but is also ideal for a refreshing boost before an event. For an intense lifting and cooling effect, place the patches in the refrigerator.
