What do South Africa’s most stylish women use to make their faces flawless? We peered into designer and co-owner of fashion label Ruff Tung, Bridget Pickering’s, make up bag and got her recipe for fabulous – yet totally fuss-free – skincare and make up.

I always carry a facial oil or serum in my handbag. I love Skin Creamery Jojoba Melon Seed Facial Hydrating Oil (R310, at skincreamery.co.za) as well as Bio-Therapeutic Accelerate Brightening Serum (price available on request, visit bio-therapeutic.co.za). My trick is to apply one or the other throughout the day to rehydrate my skin and keep wrinkles at bay.

Make up-wise when all else fails, apply your lips and your lashes. My mascara of choice is Givenchy Noir Couture Volume Mascara in Black Taffeta (R555 at Edgars and Red Square stores) and I love coral-tomato hue of Tom Ford Lip Color Matte in 06 Christiano (available at the Tom Ford store V&A Waterfront)

I never have time to get my nails done, so I DIY at home. When I do however, I get them manicured short and then gelled in black or navy for shows. My 12-year old twin girls love asking me to have brights like coral painted though.

There are three fragrances I love. I really adore Cartier Eau D’Cartier Concentree (R 1145 at myperfumeshop.co.za). I also like wearing Gucci Bamboo EDP (R 1, 335 for 50ml at Woolworths stores) as well as Flower Bomb by Viktor & Rolf (R 1535 at redsquare.co.za).

I prefer light textures of foundation on my skin like BB cream. Right now I’m using Garnier BB Cream Miracle Skin Perfector for combination to oily skin (R110 at Clicks), and I’m also enjoying the new hybrid-type of treatment foundations on the market. Give L.O.V. EVENelixir Serum Foundation SPF 20 a try (R285 at takealot.com)
