I really mean it when I say I adore just about everything from LUSH. Not only do all their products smell incredible, most are either vegetarian or Vegan (some products do contain lanolin, honey, milk and beeswax). Also, LUSH don’t purchase raw ingredients from companies that carry out, fund or commission animal testing. All their products are tested on human volunteers before making their way into stores. Kudos to LUSH for phasing out its use of palm oil, which has had a devastating impact on the orangutan’s natural habitat. Really, What’s not to love about the brand?

Two weeks back I was sent a lovely little parcel from the brand containing three super cool new products, and I can’t wait to share them with you!

First up is 1000 Millihelens Jelly Face Mask (R145) contains fresh apple juice, Brazilian orange oils and Sicilian lemon that helps brighten the complexion. Witch hazel has antibacterial and astringent benefits, while green tea acts as an antioxidant. It works well for all normal skin types and would also benefit those with oily skin that’s prone to breakouts. While this is a clay based mask, I loved that it didn’t dry my skin out at all.

I found this jelly mask quite novel to use too. Simply rip a chunk off, rub between hands, and apply onto the face. Leave on for 5-10 minutes, then rinse off using a face cloth. Any lumpy bits can be pressed in while on the face. As I mentioned before, I liked that this clay based mask didn’t dry my skin out, or dry and crack (my absolute worst!). Rather, if felt as if my skin was absorbing all the goodness. Once I removed it, my skin didn’t feel dry or taut, but it did need a bit of moisturising. If you do have dry skin, I’d recommend using this mask as a targeted treatment (on problem areas like spots), rather over the entire face. Lastly, this jelly mask is self-preserving, so there is no need to refrigerate it. However, I would try use it up within two months. BUY HERE

How I LOVE LUSH shower gels. Not only do they all smell DIVINE, they never leave my skin feeling dry. The Olive Branch (R175 for 250 grams) is the newest addition and contains a grape-leaf infusion, olive oil, mandarin and bergamot oils. Unlike regular shower gels, this one’s consistency is thinner and more liquid. However, a little goes a long way, and the formula lathers beautifully. It’s difficult to describe the scent, but it kinda has a musky scent that’s peppered with citrus. It’s both fresh and comforting. Because The Olive Branch contains olive oil – making it super moisturising – I didn’t even need to apply a moisturiser afterwards. BUY HERE

My favourite new product from the brand is definitely the Yuge Hot Oil treatment (R125). Aside from the fact that it reminds me of a pastel coloured popsicle, it really lived up to its claims of leaving my locks more voluminous, beautifully conditioned and with dazzling shine. The product is rather novel to use too. With clear instructions on the stick, you simply fill a mug ¾ way up with boiling water,(an empty LUSH container works well too), put the product into the water and stir up. I was amazed at how, as the product melted, it transformed into a creamy formula. Now, it’s important to allow the mixture to cool (at least 20 minutes) as you don’t wanna go burning your fingers or scalp. Once cooled, apply the creamy formula onto the scalp, lengths and ends and allow it to work it’s magic for 20 minutes. Then, shampoo and rinse off. Unless your hair is VERY long, you’ll no doubt find you have quite a bit of product left over. Simply decant this into a pot and use as a regular condition – it will stay fresh for up to four weeks. Dazzling shine after using the LUSH Yuge Hot Oil Treatment

While not new, I have to mention the LUSH lipsticks (R195). If you’re looking for a cruelty free, Vegan lippy that delivers high-impact, full-coverage colour in a soft, creamy moisturising base, you HAVE to try these. With ingredients like organic jojoba oil and rose and candelilla, they leave lips soft and hydrated. I love that you can either build up the colour for a bold look, or dab a little on for more of a stain (this is how I use mine). Best of all, the colour lasts the whole day and you can use them as cheek stains too. BUY HERE

Will definitely try out the hair mask thanks!

oh be still my beating heart… this lushness makes my heart flutter.
I am keen to try that Yuge Hot Oil treatment as I have been using the Lush ‘New Hair Stimulating Spice Shampoo Bar’ and can confirm that my hair has been growing beautifully. Was doubting how long it would last being a shampoo bar but it is still going!
Those lipsticks also look interesting.
Thanks for the heads up on these products, Candice. I usually only go to a Lush store when I know what I want as there are way too many amazing products. Now I have more to add to my list!

My must-try list just got a little longer after reading your post, Candice-Lee. The 1000 Millihelens Jelly Face Mask must be fantastic! Thanks. R
