Who would’ve thought that a super affordable, very basic facial moisturiser would appeal to both my tween and I? I mean, I’m 42 with aging skin, while she’s 12 yrs with dry skin that tends to break out.

The first time I tried the Cetaphil Moisturising Cream (R139.95) I was immediately struck by just how nourishing it was, while still being super lightweight. It absorbed almost immediately, leaving my skin feeling beautifully moisturised. It’s also free of fragrance and colour, making it a superb choice for sensitive skin types. There really is nothing more I can say about this other than it’s flippin’ fantastic. So fantastic, that it’s taken me two weeks to find one to purchase! Every store I go to is SOLD OUT! Eventually I found and purchased the last tube at my neighbourhood pharmacy.

Miyo, my 12 year old daughter has been using the Cetaphil Moisturising Cream for close on 3 months now, here’s what she has to say about it (I gave her copy a light edit, but tried to keep her wording):

Processed with Snapseed.

“For a long time, my mom and I have been battling to find the right moisturiser for my skin. Most of the one’s she’s given me to try either leave my skin too oily, or make it feel dry and tight. A few have even caused pimples, which is never pleasant!

The one moisturiser that doesn’t cause any problems on my skin is the Cetaphil Moisturising Cream. From the moment I first tried it, I loved its smooth texture and how, when I put it on my face, my skin instantly felt relieved and no longer dry. For me, it’s strongest selling points is that it’s not heavy, and doesn’t leave my skin feeling oily (my worst).

I used to have dry skin; at first, this was because I didn’t moisturise my face at all! Then, when I actually did, the moisturisers I used made no difference! I would be so proud to tell my mom that I’d been moisturising my face regularly, but then she’d actually feel my skin and tell me how it felt bone dry! With Cetaphil, this no longer happens. My skin feels refreshed and properly moisturised.” Miyo Jade.

The Cetaphil Moisturising Cream is suitable for all skin types and all ages. Its formula hydrates the skin, helping it to maintain its natural protective barrier. There are some very beneficial emollients in this moisturiser such as glycerin, dimethicone and sweet almond oil – all excellent at softening rough, dry patches of skin. The mild, non-greasy formula is lanolin-free, so it won’t block pores.

If you’re looking for a reasonable, basic facial moisturiser without all the bells and whistles, this is THE ONE. I can assure you that you won’t be disappointed.

You can purchase Cetaphil at Clicks, Dis-Chem and all leading pharmacies nationwide. Learn more about Cetaphil on their Facebook page HERE
