velvet balm & serum

Okay, so excuse me while I gush unashamedly about these two totally bliss inducing body products. I love the L’Occitane range, in particular their body products.

I received the Almond Velvet Balm (R815 for a 200ml jar) and the Almond Velvet Serum (R745) towards the end of last year, but only got round to trying them last week.

Why oh why did I wait so long?

Both products are formulated with a regenerating complex of almond native cells that soften the skin, counteract slackening, provide firming benefits and diminish skin irregularities like dark spots.

The rich and utterly luxurious Velvet Balm (BUY HERE) melts into and comforts dry skin unlike any other body lotion I’ve tried before! In fact, it’s making my New Year resolution of applying a body lotion daily a breeze. I also like that is has a very understated, almost powdery almond tree scent that doesn’t fight with my fragrance.

The Almond Velvet Serum (BUY HERE) takes its inspiration from facial serums that are designed to really penetrate into the skin, delivering actives that visibly make a difference to the skin’s tone, texture and hydration levels. Again, it contains the almond complex, but also contains Vitamin C, which is excellent for diminishing dark spots and pigmentation. I apply the serum before the balm to areas that are exposed to the sun like my neckline and arms and the back of my hands. The serum is slightly more fragranced than the balm and has a fresh, slightly fruity smell. Texture wise, it’s super lightweight and absorbs into the skin almost instantly.

According to the press release, a visible difference to skin’s texture should be noticeable after a month. However, after just 9 days of using both, the skin on my body feels soft as silk and there are no dry patches. Also, I had a spot of sunburn this past Saturday, and am amazed at how the serum soothed it and prevented peeling.

While I know R815 for a body moisturiser and R745 for a body serum is crazy expensive – especially in these trying financial times, I have to give these two products 10 out of 10. While I was sent both to try, if I had the spare cash, I wouldn’t hesitate at all re-purchasing them.

They both sound lovely.

They are, Lynn. A tad on the expensive side, but totally worth the price.

I used to always walk past the L’Occitane store and I didn’t know if it was a soap store or candle store. These products do sound heavenly but rather pricey at the same time. Thanks for sharing, xx
