Nails comp 1

With the summer holidays literally just around the corner, I thought a roundup of my favourite colours for the season was in order.

Nails watermelon

Morgan Taylor ‘Manga-round with Me’ R123 is my go-to summer shade. Just two coats of this leaves nails coated in a bold, neon shade of coral.

Green with Envy

Nails green

I couldn’t imagine wearing this bright green tone on my nails, but when I painted them with CND Vinylux in ‘Lush Tropics’ #170, R145, I really liked the result. I reckon this colour would work well when wearing brown, mustard or blue clothing. Also, I’m super impressed with the longevity of the CND Vinylux – you’re looking at a week of no chipping, as long as you’re wearing a top coat.

In Neutral Gear

The Bridal collection by Essie has the perfect nude colours. On my index finger I’m wearing ‘Worth the wait’ R124.95. On my middle and pinkie fingers, ‘Hubby for Dessert’, R124.95 (on my pinkie finger I applied a coat of Inglot’s 201 silver glitter polish, R200.) On my ring finger, I’m wearing ‘Brides to be’, R124.95, arguably the PERFECT nail colour for, well, the bride to be.

Lady in Red

red nails

Red is classic and elegant and next to black, my favourite colour for nails and toes. This season, ‘Smoke Red’ by Tom Ford, R495 (pricey, but SO worth the spoil) is my top red. Just a heads up; in the picture, the red is a very bright tone and is not really true to colour. In reality, the tone is more in line with the bottle (picture below at end of post).

True Blue

My best summer blue is ‘Make some Noise’, R124.95 by Essie. I love wearing this shade on my toes. My friend and top trend analyst Nicola Cooper says that blue is THE colour for just about everything next year.

Pretty in Pink

Perfect for toes or nails, Essie’s ‘Groove is in the Heart’, R124.95 is  a pretty candyfloss pink and, thanks to the thick, professional brush, super easy to apply.

metallic nails

Metallics are still trending, especially when it comes to nails, and my favourite is ‘Jiggle High Jiggle Low’, R124.95 by Essie. Two coats are all you need to take nails from dull to dazzling. Very limited stock is available, as this colour was part of the winter 2015 collection. But really, it is the best metallic I’ve tried thus far.

Purple Rein

I’ve recently got into wearing purple polish and love ‘Tokyo a Go Go’, R123 by Morgan Taylor. It’s the perfect, popping, statement making summer bright for nails and toes.

Your tootsies look gorg in that blue by Essie Candice! X

The best nail post I have seen in a while!! Still loving the metallica!!

Hi Candice – I heard from someone that Essie was going to be discontinued in South Africa – say it isn’t so – its my favorite brand of nail-polish

Hi Caryn, apologies for the delayed response. As far as I’m aware (and I’m regularly in touch with the brand manager here is SA), there are NO plans to discontinue Essie in SA. It’s also my favourite brand and I know it does really, really well here.

Aah, thanks Lalannie 🙂 Still crushing hard on the metallics.

Thanks my darling Helen. It is my favourite blue, EVER!

How did I know you’d love it Kimmie? Maybe I give you one for Christmas? Who’s your bestie, hey?

Both are such bright, brilliantly bold colours that I think they are just perfect for summer. Thanks for the comment lovely Tina 🙂

Manga-round with Me, has captured my heart. It is such a gorgeous shade! Thanks for sharing, xx
