winter beauty wonder hold

It’s the last cold snap before we say hello to spring. So, I thought I’d showcase three of my absolute must-have beauty winter wonders, all available online at I’ve included my tried and tested favourites for body, skin and face.

BB skin foundation

Bobbi Brown Skin Foundation SPF15 R495buy it here – was the first foundation I fell truly in love with when I started out as a beauty editor. Because I like weightless coverage that looks like skin, this is still one of my favourites. It’s best for normal and combination skin types, or anyone looking for a hydrating formula that gives the skin a glow. It has a very thin and watery consistency, ensuring it blends really easily. You can use your fingers to apply it (I often do), but find the finish when applied with a flat top foundation brush is SUPERB! I’m always surprised at how this lightweight foundation yields such good coverage. It works well to conceal redness and minor imperfections, but you’ll need to apply two layers. The finish is natural looking and dewy and also works well to minimize the appearance of pores. Skin foundation is best for those with good skin that don’t need much coverage.

Tip: Mix a little foundation with your day cream to create a tinted moisturiser perfectly suited to your skin.

Clarins Tonic body oil

Clarins Tonic Body Treatment Oil R490buy it here – Because summer bodies are made in winter! I used this for the first time about 20 years ago and have been a fan since. This preservative free formula includes Rosemary, Geranium and Mint that helps firm, tone and improves elasticity, thereby reducing the appearance of stretch marks. Hazelnut oil locks in moisture, leaving the skin soft and hydrated.

I apply mine in two ways:

  1. Onto damp skin as I get out the shower, concentrating on areas like my tummy, upper arms, hips and thighs.
  2. I mix a little with my regular body lotion and apply it all over my body

This oil leaves skin super soft and supple and if you have dry skin, you absolutely must try it out. Oh, and I almost forgot to add that it’s safe to use during pregnancy to avoid stretch marks.

Tip: Body oils absorb SO much more effectively if you apply them onto damp skin.

Clinique MS

I count Clinique Moisture Surge Overnight Mask R460 – buy it here – as one of my all-time favourite beauty fixes. I’ve blogged about it before here and here. Because I’m so exhausted in the evenings, I like that I can just slap this onto clean skin and go snooze. When you wake up, the skin has a beautiful radiant glow. This creamy mask replenishes dry skin and I love that it can also be used around the eye area. It’s loaded with hydrating ingredients and antioxidants and is colour and fragrance free, making it a great option for sensitive skin types. Even though it’s recommended for all skin types, I think normal, dehydrated or dry skins will see the most benefit.

Tip: This mask is excellent to apply on long haul flights to keep skin hydrated.

Then…Besides the highly anticipated launch of Benefit Cosmetics on (along with select stores), there has been a number of other, highly covetable brands recently added to the online lineup. These include Bobbi Brown, Catrice and Essence, adding up to 92 different beauty brands in total across skincare, make-up and fragrance, for both women and men. Keep an eye out for more brands launching later this year. And, if the idea of having a whole lot of beauty in one place appeals to you, do yourself a favour and visit the Red Square Gateway store and pop into Red Square Rosebank Mall to experience the CHANEL BEAUTÉ counter – it’s to DIE for!

My favourites are good old E45 cream; EA 8 hour skin Protectant and Bio Oil. All about that extra moisture 🙂
Thanks Candice-Lee xx

My winter favorites are Oh Lief Natural Body Oil, love my Bobbi Brown foundation and the Clinique overnight moisture mask

My favorite 3 beauty products for winter are Lucas’ paw paw ointment/ Elizabeth Arden’s 8 hour cream for dry lips, mozzi bites, cuts or burns and just about anything in between. I love both of those products for either me or my 2 year old’s skin. They are both so gentle and moisturizing. The second product I have sworn by since my early makeup days is Clinique Continuous Coverage. I have freckly sun damaged skin so I prefer a heavier coverage. This foundation does just that and still adds great moisture while doing so. It manages to not look too caked on and still keep a nice glow over all even after it has been dusted with a powder. It also lasts forever because you need a tiny amount in order to cover your entire face. My last winter gem is Eucerin Original Crème. It really soaks into my skin after application. It has a very thick consistency and is also best applied straight out of the shower. I find it lasts a full day and can feel it in my skin when I shower in the evening after the morning application. I would love to try the two Clinique products that you recommended as they both sound like something I need in order to combat the dry skin I’m struggling with before summer strikes. Thanks for reading

My three ultimate winter essentials are Elizabeth Arden 8 Hour Cream, Nivea Rich Nourishing Body Moisturizer and my Gosh Coconut Moisturizer Oil for my hair. Thanks for running such a great comp.

Have a lovely day.

My 3 fav winter products are clinique dramatically different moisturizing lotion, Decleor aroma purete’ instant purifying mask and Mac studio fix fluid foundation.

My favourite 3 winter products are: Mama Mio Omega Body Oil, Clinique overnight moisture surge mask and blistex dct. Cannot live without these 3 miracle workers.

My winter favourites are: J&J Baby oil at night after a hot shower. I apply it while my skin is still wet so it mixes with the warmth of the water, the temperature of my body and it leaves my skin soft and supple.
2: Heliocare 360 airgel. Suncreen in winter is a must for me even though I am as brown as a peanut.
3. Avene Thermiqe water: To remove excess make up at night and in the morning to hydrate my skin.

Three things that I absolutely MUST have during winter are:
Any oil based body exfoliator
A hydrating facial mask (or serum)
A nourishing body oil

My face has been so dry this winter. A good scrub to get rid of the dead skin. Mario Badescu preferably. Something for my super dry skin -Skinlogic has no colour an perfumes. And for me… always first on the list, winter, summer, any day …. my favorite perfume Lady Million♡♡♡♡

Hi Candice!

I am already subscribed to your news letter, don’t ever wanna miss anything!!

My 3 must have Winter products are Kiehls Midnight Recovery Oil (this is my absolute favorite), Eight Hour cream by Elizabeth Arden and then my Dermalogica Facial Mask. These three help me combat dry, tight skin in winter and keep me with fresh, hydrated looking skin.

Clinique Even Better Dark Spot Correcting Hand Cream. Protects my hands and nails through winter 🙂

Ooh la la…such a divine giveaway 😉 My 3 favourite Winter wonder products are Nuxe Multi-Purpose Dry Oil which hydrates your entire body (even your hair!). I also like to dab a bit on my cheeks and brow bones after applying makeup. Then there is L’Occitane Hand Cream which is my favourite hand cream for the last few months. I’ve been using this product throughout the day and my hands feel instantly soft and smooth and lastly I suffer from dry lips? The winter season can turn dry, chapped lips in overdrive….I combat this by using Blistex. Holding fingers and toes big time 🙂

The products that I absolutely cannot go without in winter are, Lulu & Marula mint lip balm, Estee Lauder gel hydrating mask (I have oily skin that tends to get a bit dry in the winter months) and Palmers Cocoa Butter for my whole body.

My Winter Wonder products are: Clarins Pure Melt Cleansing gel – removes makeup so easily and skin feels so nourished after using, Elizabeth Arden Advanced Night Repair – nothing better than waking up to hydrated, well-rested skin and Benefit Watts Up! – adds the perfect dewy look to skin which can be harder to achieve in the cold winter months.

I use Elizabeth Arden 48 hr Cream, Palmers Cocoa Butter and SkinDrink from Lush.

My winter savers are : –
Nuxe Reve de Miel lip balm – rich and thick, this is the best lip treatment for nighttime, and my lips are soft and nourished the next morning.
Clarins Hydraquench moisturiser – a lovely, rich hydrating cream that saves my skin every single winter! It smells gorgeous too…
Clarins Double Serum – I use this year round if I can, but in winter it really really helps the skin, and I use it twice a day as opposed to only nightly. My skin feels soft, smooth and so so hydrated.

Would lurve to win this voucher!

My 3 favourite winter wonder beauty products are: NIVEA in-shower body moisturiser (no need for cold body lotions after a shower 🙂 BIODERMA Photoderm MAX SPF 50 (because winter sun is just as damaging to the skin) and Bee Natural for my dry lips <3 🙂

My top winter wonder beauty products are:
1. Elizabeth Arden 8 Hour Cream for hands
2. Estee Lauder Double Wear Stay in Place Makeup
3. Revlon Ultra HD Lipstick in Marigold

My 3 Favourite winter wonder products are: The Elizabeth Arden Visible Difference Hydrating Boost Night Mask to hydrate my dry winter skin, The Bobbi Brown Brightening Brick from their Surf & Sand Collection to at least pretend like I have been on holiday, and the Benefits Benebalm to give my lips a rose-tinted kiss.

Labello Hydro Lip Balm
Argan Oil
Palmers Cocoa Butter Lotion

Kanebo Sensai soothing cream , Bio-oil and Lipidol After Shower Oil

This winter I am really struggling with dehydrated skin so the following have been my saving grace –
NUXE Rêve de Miel Lip Moisturizing Stick – I don’t like lip balm so I am very glad this comes in a stick as well and it smells nice too
Kiehl’s Midnight Recovery Concentrate – just so divine and also smells great
Body butter – I completely hoard body butters and just love using them

Top 3 winter products:

1. Aquaphor Soothing Skin Balm – the only thing that keeps my lips from chapping in the colder months.
2. Avene Soothing Moisture Mask – an extremely hydrating overnight treatment, plus it smells divine.
3. Happy Event Antenatal Massage Lotion (even though I am not pregnant) – nothing keeps me more supple and moisturised than this stuff.

For my dehydrated skin in winter, I’m loving the Bodyshop Vitamin C Microdermabrasion; the REN Rose Moisture Defence serum; and Argan oil mixed into my body lotion for extra hydration.

First it would be the Gosh Argan Oil shampoo, then the Elizabeth Arden Visible Difference BB cream and Estee Lauder Advanced Night Repair Recovery Complex. Such Awesome products

My winter wonders are my Elizabet Ardens Visible Difference moisteriser, the day cream and night cream.

My top 3 are Vichy Idealia Life Serum because serums add that extra oomph, Smashbox Camera Ready CC Cream Dark Spot Correcting because it evens out imperfections and looks natural, and Placecol Hydro Firm Mask because I could use a little firming up! I’d love to win! Thanks for the giveaway!

My winter wonders are Organic Cold-pressed Coconut Virgin Oil, Aragan Morroccan Oil Hair Treatment and Justine Tissue Oil Softening Body Butter. These 3 products works wonders during the cold wintery months to hydrate the skin and hair.

I love oils in winter and would love to give the Clarins Blue Orchid oil a try. And a great mascara by Lancome would be wonderful 🙂

I have been a subscriber for quiet a while now 🙂 I absolutely love the Lotus Face Treatment Oil by Clarins, Justines tissue oil lip balm/stick & Elizabeth Arderns 8 hour hand cream.

Without a doubt – my top winter wonder is Elizabeth Arsen Eight Hour Skin Protectant. My tub goes everywhere with me. Discovered the Nuxe 24HR Soothing and Rehydrating Fresh Mask this winter – much like the Clarins Mask you pop it on and leave it on and wake up with the softest creamiest skin. Last but not least has got to be good old Nivea Soft Creme – the scent will always remind me of summer and it goes on so easily and keeps my body soft.

My 3 fav Winter Wonders are Body Shop Argan oil, Elizabeth Arden Eight Hour Skin Protectant and Hask Moroccan Oil Shampoo!

My 3 winter must haves is, 1. RevlonAge Defying CC Cream, best thing ever!! 2. L’Oreal Paris Age Perfect Cell Renew Day Moisturiser, can’t go a day without it!! and 3. Clinique All About Eyes Serum De-Puffing Eye Massage, this is a life saver in summer and winter, but especially in winter as my face always looks super pale and it almost seems like you can see the puffyness more.

First up would have to be my Lancome Hydra Intense Mask. It gives my dehydrated skin a total moisture boost without making my skin oily or clogging my pores.
The next two items are both my Filorga. First is the age peeling set. It gently removes all the dead skin to expose bright radiant skin and is so easy to use.
My hands get really dry and cracked during winter and using moisturizer alone is just not enough. I live the filorga hand filler gloves. I reuse mine as many times as possible.
These are three items I just can’t live without in winter or skin starts looking really scaly which is just horrible.

Number 1 : Justine Tissue Oil with Rosehip
Number 2 : Chamomile Cleansing Balm from The Body Shop
Number 3 : L’occitane Shea Whipped Shower Foam

….mix it all up with cuddles and reading thrillers in front of the fire while the wind howls outside and I’m a happy winter person!

Already a subscriber yay. My 3 winter must-have wonder working beauty products are Skinworx’s revitalising salt scrub, Skinworx essential rich skin balm which keeps my face and body soft and moisturised and drops of soothing tissue oil in my bath at night and I’m ready to go!!

2. Avene thermal spray
3. Carmex cherry-flavoured lip balm

Awesome giveaway!

My new best friend is the Kiehls Midnight Recovery, I even add it to my foundation.
I never leave home without my Dermalogica Multivitamin Hand and Nail treatment which is super silky and nourishing.
I use Nuxe Huile Prodigieuse Dry Oil all over!

Elizabeth Arden Cream
Dove Macadamia Nut Hair Oil
Kiehls Midnight Recovery

Clinique Moisture Surge Extended Thirst Relief
Matrix Biolage Exquisite Oil
MAC Charged Water Eye Cream

My 3 must have Winter products are

1. Kiehls Midnight Recovery Oil
2. Eight Hour cream by Elizabeth Arden
3. Body Shop shea butter body butter….cant live without this every winter!

My 3 must have winter products are:
1) Palmers Cocoa Butter formula with Vitamin E. (this provides intense moisturisation at night and helps with my uneven skin tone and marks. I use this as a night cream as its too oily for day use

1. Clarins Blue Orchid oil
2. Labello Med Protection
3. Avon youth Restore Hand Cream

Elizabeth Arden Eight Hour Skin Protectant, Justine Lip Therapy and Elvive Extraordinary Oil

Firstly.. Elizabeth Arderns 8 hour hand cream for my dry hands.. Good old faithful lip ice for my lips 🙂 and Qms medicosmetics moisturizing balance for my face 🙂

My 3 winter faves are:
Bobby Brown Skin Foundation also, I use the beige 03
NARS Orgasm blush for that winter glow
Kheils hand cream for the Jozi dryness

It’s all about moisture for me in winter (how much can I pack in – face and body – without overburdening my skin), so I rely on Elizabeth Arden 8 Hour Cream, hand cream (like Norwegian Formula), and Eucerin Complete Repair (for super dry skin on my legs and arms).

Ponds gold radiance youth reviving eye cream
Clarins Tonic Body Treatment Oil
Ponds gold radiance youthful night repair

One product that I swear by is the Elizabeth Arden 8-hour Cream, which is excellent for my winter lips. Believe it or not, good old Vaseline Blue Seal Original Petroleum Jelly does wonders for your skin especially if applied while the skin is still damp. Not only is this affordable, but it can be used as an all-rounder. I’ve also recently found Kiehl’s Corrective Multi-Active Cream, which leaves my combination skin velvety smooth, nourished, and absolutely plumped up!

I would get worried when Winter is approaching but ever since i got introduced to the Bobby Brown Skin Foundation I face it with smile and confidence knowing i wont have cracks and my skin will glow , the Oh Lief Natural Body Oil, and the Clinique overnight moisture mask they do the trick as well.

blistex dct, avon body butter and african rooibos extract hand cream

Coconut Virgin Oil, Body Shop Aragan & Blistex for lips

Hi Candice-Lee

Picking 3 of my personal winter wonders is a tough one, but here goes.

1) The Body Shop Hemp Hand Protector
My hands get dry to the point of itchiness when I don’t moisturise after washing, and it needs intense hydration. I love the medicinal scent and how it’s thick but sinks in quickly without leaving a greasy film. It’s also great for my elbows and feet.
2) Blistex DCT lip balm
I love any product with a built in SPF. It never fails to surprise me how I can put this on before bedtime and wake up with perfectly smooth and moisturised lips that’s completely free of flakiness. It’s so good that I even apply it around my nostrils at night to deal with the flakiness that comes with blowing my nose so often in winter.
3) REN Glycolactic Radiance Renewal Mask
I have dewy, fresh looking skin throughout winter thanks to this mask. I have not had to deal with my makeup looking dodgy towards the end of the day because of dry skin. Since I am not really a fan of granular exfoliants for the face, I like that I can put this mask on, go wash the dishes then rinse my face to reveal fresh skin. The rest of my products seem to work better as well because my skin is plump and clear. Am using less and less BB cream as a result because I don’t want my skin to be hidden 🙂

Loving my L’Ocitanne Youth Oil, can’t do without Elizabeth Arden 8 Hour cream, for the dry winter spots & lastly … I’d pick …. Clinique Even Better Dark Spot Correcting Hand Cream.
