A few weeks back I was sent the AVON True Colour Flawless Liquid Foundation (R154.90) to try out – a full coverage formula that perfects the skin giving it flawless, invisible looking coverage.
Now, I’m all about flawless coverage that looks natural and gives the skin a glow. However, for the longest time I’ve had this preconceived idea that anything labelled “full Coverage” equals heavy looking, so pretty much stayed away from those formulas.
How wrong I’ve been!
I’m actually amazed at just how invisible the AVON True Colour Flawless Liquid Foundation actually looks on my skin. The reason for this is the Invisiblend Technology that uses skin matching pigments that soften light from every angle to give you almost invisible coverage.

I also love how seamlessly the formula spreads on the skin. When it comes to application, I find it best to either use a foundation brush or apply with (clean) fingers, then dab to perfect with a damp makeup sponge. I then set it with a translucent powder.
This picture below was taken last week on my birthday. I applied my makeup around 9am then made off with the family to the wine lands for lunch. Once we finished lunch, at around about 4pm, we took a walk around the wine farm. The light was gorgeous so I quickly applied some lippy & snapped the pic below. Look how fresh my makeup looks – 7 hours later with no touch-up’s whatsoever – not even powder!
This formulation also contains an SPF 15 to protect the skin from harmful UV rays (that not only cause pigmentation, but premature ageing too), doesn’t settle into pores, and is oil-free, but moisturising at the same time.
When I got home and removed my cream Bottega Veneta cashmere scarf (dry clean only), there was not even a smudge of foundation to be found – and I didn’t apply the translucent powder to my neck, in case you were wondering.
The AVON True Colour Flawless Liquid Foundation would work for a multitude of skin types. I have normal / combination skin and it works brilliantly for me. It would be great for those with blemishes and acne, pigmentation or excessive redness that you want to conceal. Even sensitive skin types will benefit from this as Titanium Dioxide is a key ingredient ( great for sensitive, redness prone skin).
Finally, I really like the sleek and sophisticated glass bottle with the pump action dispenser.
Tips for finding the perfect foundation shade and type
- To find your perfect shade, swatch three colours similar to that of your skin tone onto your cheek. The colour that looks the least visible is the correct tone for you.
- When purchasing a foundation, think about what your main skin concerns are and choose a formula that addresses them. For example; if you have oily skin, look for a mattifying formula that includes and ingredient like salicylic acid. Dry skin should opt for liquid formulas that hydrate and containing ingredients like hyaluronic acid.
- Think about the effect you’d like from your foundation. If your skin is oily, opt for a mattifying formula. Dry skin types should choose liquid formulas that hydrate. If you’re wanting to conceal redness, discoloration or pimples, go for a formula that provides full coverage or is buildable. If you have no real issues with your skin and it’s normal, choose tinted moisturisers or sheer, lightweight coverage that will perfect while giving you a glow.
